MP Imran Hussain, as Chair of APPG Kashmir, and over 30 other British Parliamentarians have written to the British Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP regarding the current situation in Kashmir:

“We are deeply concerned by reports of a communications blackout as part of a broader lockdown, arrests and escalating tensions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Many British Kashmiris have been unable to contact loved ones, causing real anxiety and distress across our communities.

The situation must be peacefully resolved through restraint, dialogue and meaningful engagement.

The UK Government should use all appropriate diplomatic channels to support de-escalation, the immediate lifting of the blockade, the restoration of communications and a peaceful resolution through table talks which respects the human rights of the Kashmiris.”

Putting our people in Azad Kashmir into a total communications blackout, then using your entire media/propaganda apparatus to label them as terrorists & “traitors” - for demanding basic rights like an int’l airport & better healthcare - is something which has crossed a red line for us.

This is not something we will move on from or forget, we will do what is necessary to ensure our people are never put in these circumstances again.

Rawalakot: People were peacefully sitting at the sit-in and preparing for the funeral prayer at around 6 PM when Pakistani forces opened fire and launched heavy shelling on the gathering.
As a result, more people were martyred and dozens injured.
The people gathered there were not armed. They were attending a funeral and participating in a peaceful protest demanding implementation of agreements and basic rights.
The world must pay attention to what is happening in Pakistan-administered Jammu & Kashmir.
