Dear President Trump, @realDonaldTrump
The European Union was not formed "in order to screw the USA." On the contrary, the Marshall Plan, signed into law by President Truman on April 3, 1948, was a testament to the USA' commitment to rebuilding Europe's shattered economies after World War II. This initiative provided crucial economic assistance that opened new markets for American goods, fostered reliable trading partners, and supported the establishment of stable democratic governments in Western Europe.
At the end of World War II in 1945, Europe was devastated: cities lay in ruins, economies were decimated, and people faced widespread famine. The Soviet Union's expanding influence over Eastern Europe and the vulnerability of Western European nations to Soviet expansionism intensified the sense of urgency.
In response to this crisis, Secretary Marshall proposed in a speech at Harvard University on June 5, 1947, that European nations develop a plan for their economic recovery, with the United States providing the necessary financial support. This visionary approach not only aided Europe's reconstruction but also strengthened transatlantic ties and promoted global stability.
Today, a similar spirit of support and cooperation is needed in Ukraine. As the country faces the devastating impacts of war, international assistance is crucial for rebuilding infrastructure, stabilizing the economy, and fostering democratic governance. Just as the Marshall Plan helped Europe rise from the ashes of war, a concerted effort by the global community can aid Ukraine in its path to recovery and prosperity.
Thank you for considering these historical facts and their relevance to current global challenges
but culture evolves over time as people interact with new ideas, technologies, and circumstances, and this process cannot be stoped. There's not such thing as freezing history.
This idea of culture as a static monolithic is simply not grounded in reality. It’s not to say traditions or cultural practices shouldn’t be respected or preserved
ELON: IF WE DON’T MAINTAIN THE CULTURAL IDENTITIES OF THE VARIOUS COUNTRIES, THEY WILL DISAPPEAR
“I think there is value to a culture, we don't want Japan to disappear, we don't want Italy as a culture to disappear, we don't want France as a culture to disappear.
I think we have to maintain the reasonable cultural identity of the various countries, or they simply will not be those countries.
Italy is the people of Italy.
The buildings are there, but really, what is Italy?
Italy is the people of Italy.”

Correlation is not causation. And social scientists usually invoke two reasons why this is so: reverse causation & confounding. But things are more complex👇
We can err in inferring causation from correlation. We can also err in inferring correlations from observed correlations.
