A lot of speculation on whether Michigan suspected the Sherrone Moore-Paige Shiver affair.
Yes, of course it did.
In the fall of 2025, U of M conducted a full HR investigation into the situation, including interviewing both participants, who denied it. There wasn’t enough evidence to prove an inappropriate relationship.
In November, the school commissioned a second investigation using an outside firm (the relationship broke up soon after, Shiver then told what happened and Moore was fired that day).
All of this was reported by ESPN and others last December.
Michigan has certainly not cloaked itself in glory with its many scandals, but not sure what more it could have reasonably done on this particular issue.
Some tidbits in the aftermath of the 2027 World Cup change of format.
It was in the making for some time, but was shoehorned into the ICC board meeting in Edinburgh.

Sam Neill (2025): “It’s not a happy place, America, and I wasn’t happy there. I’m interested in the condition of America now. It beggars belief what’s happening there now. When you hear a slogan like Make America Great Again, it makes a sort of weird sense because America could be great again, but at community level. Not with sort of strange billionaires making weird decisions”
Love this from Mick.
My wife and I saw the Stones play the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, a theater with only 7,000 seats, in November 2021.
Mick avoided politics to a crowd half-full of MAGA fans but he did list all the activities happening in south Florida that weekend. With a little bounce to his voice, Mick ended his list by name-checking “That Bill O’Reilly Fanfest Spectacular.”
My wife and I laughed out loud but many others— too many others— did not. 😂
An ICE agent shot and killed a 26-year-old man in Maine today.
This comes just days after ICE shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Texas.
Trump’s domestic army must be stopped.
There are discussions to cut back the 2027 ODI World Cup to 12 teams.
The ICC announced in 2021 that the 2027 event would have 14 teams.
There were discussions at the time of a 16-team World Cup after the 2019 and 2023 editions only had 10.

A parade of Senate Dems have posted genuinely gracious messages about the death of @LindseyGrahamSC, whose overheated public comments to please @POTUS belied the deep relationships he had built among senators of both parties over three decades.
They knew him as a friend and colleague and not a caricature.
It’s not complicated. Trump doesn’t believe in democracy.
He hates democratic Europe and loves the oligarchic dictatorships in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar.
He wants to stifle dissent in the media and arrest his opponents.
ALL Americans must unify against authoritarianism.
As is often the case, the ICC's AGM was an anti-climax.
There will be a meeting in September to sort out the FTP, while a decision on whether the WTC expands to 12 is set for November.

5) Got to spend some time with Stephen Root, the actor who stole the movie "Office Space" with his "I believe that's my stapler" Milton character. I asked him where he got it. "There was a kid in my 6th grade class who talked like that," Root said. "I just did an impression!"

Pay to play. Travel over training. An incentive to coddle not coach.

Belgian players mocked Trump with his own dumb dance and chanted, “Overturn this.”
They didn’t just celebrate a win. They turned Trump’s clown-show politics into the post-match story, overshadowing a U.S. men’s team that deserved better than being dragged into another ego stunt.
The humiliation says it all: when you drag politics, pressure, and ego into sport, don’t be shocked when the world laughs back.
And right now, the world is laughing at the USA again because of Trump.
Because if world leaders start throwing their weight around to turn over rulings, God help us. Trump doesn't know Thing One about soccer and now the sports world looks at us like big bullies -- just as the world itself looks at us. This will end up biting us in the ass.
