In May 2023, I had tweeted CRITICISING #ShahRukhKhan for saying he sleeps only 4 to 5 hours a day, and questioned the idea that success requires sacrificing sleep, food and personal comfort, as mentioned by him in an Aaj Tak interview.

Today, I’m deleting that tweet, taking my words back and offering a public apology for writing it.

Over the last 2 years and especially in the past 6 to 7 months, I’ve been deeply involved in multiple projects across consulting, marketing, Hindi and Marathi film work, along with some personal choices/priorities and responsibilities. In that phase, I realised that I often couldn’t afford more than 5 hours of sleep.

And I realised that Shah Rukh Khan was never asking people to give up sleep recklessly. He was speaking about the reality of pushing beyond comfort, of going the extra mile, especially when you come from a middle class background and are trying to build something meaningful. Some may agree, some may disagree. But I have felt this truth personally.

When you are trying to create something big or do something worthwhile, compromises do happen. At least in my case, sleep was one of them.
