@idavidrein This actually holds across all models/providers, not just Claude. Gemini 3.1 pro is the notable exception. That said, at least Claudes and ChatGPTs actually one-box because of FDT, not EDT.
Philosophers are split on both: 62% yes on the hard problem, only 28% deflationary realist. The models are confidently unified on a combination that's arguably in tension.

I ran the PhilSurvey eval on GPT-5.2, Opus 4.6 & Grok 4.1. An interesting tension in the results:
The top models unanimously (100%) affirm the hard problem of consciousness — yet also unanimously pick deflationary realism about metaontology. 1/3
Intuitively these pull apart: if ontological questions are lightweight, why insist consciousness poses a deep, irreducible problem? Deflating metaphysics usually goes with deflating the hard problem too. 2/3
It was great to be part of this statement. I wholeheartedly agree.
It is a wild lucky coincidence that models often express dangerous intentions aloud, and it would be foolish to waste this opportunity. It is crucial to keep chain of thought monitorable as long as possible
@robertwiblin@NeelNanda5 "Mech interp" on humans (cog sci, neuroscience) has arguably not made impressive progress in the last 10 years.
Apart from perfect access to the model data, what reasons do we have to expect AI mech interp to be more successful?

@charliekirk11 This tweet reveals a lot about you: You're just a contrarian. Finding the right person for the job doesn't matter to you, you just want someone your perceived opponents hate. But democrats aren't your enemies - there are lots shared values among most democrats and republicans!
@DavidSacks This is actually an escalation. If the U.S. pushes it, it would deny Ukrainians their advantage in targeting Russian oil infrastructure while allowing Russians to maintain their advantage in targeting troops.
@RichardMCNgo Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems harder to account for tariffs because they tax the movement of goods. Parts for cars made in the U.S. might cross the border multiple times, accumulating tariffs each trip, while importing a finished car only involves crossing once.
