@OddKiwiArts I like to keep everything as FLAC. Most of my purchases come from Bandcamp or independent online stores. Occasionally I will buy and rip a CD like its 2007 or something.

Since quitting streaming in favour of buying music outright I am now close to having a minimum viable command line music player using only Rust + native macOS frameworks. It's a pretty sketchy amalgamation of AudioToolbox, CoreFoundation and Kqueue, but it works quite well.

@fasterthanlime This of course meant hand rolling the FFI definitions, which if nothing else, was ... erm ...educational? Building an event loop with Kqueue was genuinely interesting however.

Oh and after watching some @fasterthanlime, I wisely decided it would be fun to not use any cargo deps. This was _quite_ the experience, not least because of Apple's famous docs. An exciting odyssey through header files, heritage carbon era types, and nightly compiler features.

- Combining different breaks. E.g alternating between individual slices vs layering full loops
- Blending real and synthetic drums
- How many layers is enough / knowing when to stop!
