In 2002, the Israeli army took our house for 11 days.

We lived in an apartment building away from any fighting in Nablus. The main "fighting" was in the old city.

A soldier knocked at our door around 2 AM. I opened the door. He had a gun to my head and ordered us to all go downstairs.

They checked everyone's IDs then ordered us all to a single apartment in that building.

They then told us that they will be using that building as a military base because it has a good view.

They let us know that a multi-day curfew will be lifted for 2 hours next morning and that we should use that time to get out.

We had no family in the same city to go to. We ended up going to a friend's house. Their house was searched that same night. A story for another time.

We came back 11 days later when Israeli forces left the city. The house was a complete mess.

They purposefully destroyed furniture, stole items, and poured everything from oil to "other substances" on our mattresses. Took us days to clean the mess with the help of neighbors.

Thankfully, they didn't demolish our building. Others were not as lucky.
