@IMS2121@notch This. What SSR is good for: subtly improve cubemaps. What it ends up being used for: lol just put SSR on thats reflections done, dont care about the variance💯👍 Also, it helps to not blend fully between the cubemap and SSR, but always keep some bit of the cubemap blended.
@shackle_ton I have had bad dreams of a future where RTX or something like it becomes a crutch just like dynamic AO or volumetrics did and completely replaces cubemaps in some games. Still, it means that no time is spent putting up and tuning those cubemaps, making for more efficient workflow
