The table
Trump continues to argue that the Iranian reserves will be used to purchase American products, something Iran denies was ever part of any agreement. And note that they didn’t even address the most contentious points of the referenced MoU.
Pay very close attention to our latest posts on this topic.
Iran now faces another problem that was entirely predictable. The Gulf is already using a route through Oman, bypassing the Iranian route and thus avoiding any environmental or security fees. Oman is far more sensitive to international pressure and is unlikely to impose any charges.
Iran cannot mine Omani waters, nor can it attack ships using this route.
This strips away part of Iran’s bargaining power at the very moment it accepted the deal.
Some of you may recall when I said that Trump was being well advised and had a clear plan, very different from when he started the war in such a disastrous manner. Iran has been, and still is, an excellent strategist in wartime, but it has not been replicating that same level of success in negotiations outside of war.
Let’s now watch how Iran behaves and how much time it can actually buy with this letter of intent.

A brilliant discussion on why Iran won’t cooperate with Trump’s lies about the MOU
“Iran won and they don’t have to”
Trump is being forced to own the “L” and Iran won’t let Americans forget it
Can Trump accept Iran’s nuclear program if no deal at Day 60?
Many predicted Iran's strikes on neighboring states hosting US forces would leave it regionally more isolated.
Instead, realism appears to be winning out. Iran-GCC reconciliation talks are now expected in Riyadh, undermining efforts to build a regional order that excludes Iran.
Iran wasting no time consolidating control over Hormuz
Issued a joint statment with Oman about arrangements for maritime safety and "costs associated with them"

BREAKING: Qatar's PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani confirms regional powers are negotiating a new security framework with Iran—ditching sole reliance on the U.S. umbrella.
"The regional goal now is to create a new security framework between the countries of the region and Iran," Al Thani told the Financial Times.
Gulf states watched American defenses fail. Iranian drones hit their cities. The Strait shut. Washington couldn't stop it.
Now they're building a parallel order—with Tehran at the table. The U.S. monopoly on Gulf security is over. Iran is now a partner, not just a problem.
This could amount to a big deal!
According to Israeli Channel 13, the Trump admin has informed Israel of increasing American restrictions across multiple fronts.
A senior Israeli official told Israel’s Channel 13: “The message we have received from the Americans in recent weeks is clear: you had permission to operate without restrictions, and that period is over.”

The narrative that "Trump's Iran War will weaken China" has now completely collapsed, as China is now the most important country to determine the future price of oil.
By cutting down on imports, relying on vast stockpiles and utilizing more clean energy, China has been able to cushion the impact of higher prices at home, if not alleviate it completely.
In March, China exported 68 gigawatts of solar technology, according to Ember, a renewables think tank. That's 50% more than the previous high hit back in August.
Meanwhile, Chinese customs data show that exports of solar, batteries, and EVs rose 70% in March year on year.
China is now the world leader in renewables, thanks to decades of massive state investment in green energy, a policy meant to help insulate it from oil shocks like the one the world is suffering right now.
Once again, another colossal miscalculation from the Trump administration that gives more leverage to China in the world economy

I try to take a balanced look at the question of Russian military reconstitution after this war, the problems and enduring weaknesses in the force, but also how it has evolved and expanded in ways that we need to consider in future contingencies. https://t.co/J0jaZ9ViCW
The female cop just executed a random bystander trying to get away from the shooter and then when the real shooter came she flees leaving two people dead because of her incompetence. What the hell are we doing allowing female police officers.
Wars are ultimately won by reserves. The Wehrmacht entered Barbarossa with just 90,000 men(!) in its field replacement battalions—exhausted by ~July—+ a further 400,000 in the Ersatzheer back home. German high command calculated that only about 1,000 replacements actually reached the front each day in the initial invasion phase. The Soviet replacement pool dwarfed the German effort: 5 million reservists were called up in the first week of the invasion alone, enough to cover not just the catastrophic June–July losses but the entire year 19941 it turns out. Dense Soviet rail network also let the USSR feed them forward faster than Germany could move its own.
