@SM00NIS@papiercranes The original statement is rejecting the idea that this should happen. They deserve more opportunities but not every role / the success of a show or movie doesn’t depend on big names leading it.
@Kevin35489091@beyoncegarden Why can people only understand social constructs as simple or complicated as it takes to affirm their own identity?? Other people deserve to feel validation as long as it’s not hurting anyone! People are varied and complicated. You’d be considered mentally ill not long ago.
@XFTDG_@Variety Fair, the internet will always take issue, but the latter is a valid reason to turn down the roll. The former is an especially insecure reason only valid if you’re a first grader afraid of cooties. lol
@keldotlauren Ok I really enjoy some of her music, but I’m absolutely certain that every creative decision is made for her by a team of corporate analysts or even just AI bots that calculate the last vestiges of early 2000s aesthetic no one has bothered to dredge up yet.
@AndyHerren Genuine question: why is “Favorite” automatically assumed to mean “Desert island movie”? Why can’t a one-time-viewing, challenging, engaging, artful movie that leaves a deep emotional impression not be considered a favorite?
@abcdrih This particular movie is one that benefits so much from a theatrical watch. The room was dying of laughter. It’s contagious and so much more fun.
@AngryTomtweets Hey, so that no longer makes it a Tarkovsky movie, right? If you didn’t have the respect or attention span for his films before, then just walk away. Unbelievably tone deaf approach to art.
@W1CK3DWYRM@WillSloanEsq Critics like Roger Ebert have historically been the greatest champions of movies in general, and of gems that would otherwise go unseen without their endorsement. It’s not objective. He gave his opinion, and your personal taste doesn’t need to be echoed across the board.
@oocwhitelotus It’s also an exciting opportunity for lesser known talent to gain a new audience and well established character actors to jump back into the spotlight. Actors like Nicole Kidman don’t fit the bill. She is everywhere.
@FilmUpdates The greatest offense to cinema and likely the industry’s death knell are the droves of risk-averse ai ip studio schlock churned out with no soul at all, not Megalopolis. It’s incoherent, messy, and even corny but also can’t really be judged by this sort of qualitative assessment.
