The other day...

I saw Opiyo Wandayi boldly tell a crowd in Busia that "Safari ya kupeleka Raila Statehouse imeanza and there is no turning back".

I was not even amused, because the same pattern of doing things has seen Raila fail to clinch power a record 6 times.

It's a tried and tested route to failure!

For instance...

1. In 1997, Raila confused local popularity with national fame... He thought (or was made to believe so by the Wandayis of then) that being the darling of Luos was synonymous with being the darling of most Kenyans.

His candidature was purely a matter of ego as opposed to necessity!

Well, alianguka pakajichora katoi...

2. In 2002, Raila had a miscalculation after another...

He earlier joined Moi with the hope of getting Mzee's endorsement...Mzee endorsed Uhuru instead..

He then joined Kibaki (a few months to election) with the hope of using him to ascend to power through the backdoor as the Executive Prime Minister...

Kibaki alimpiga character development ya mwaka...alioshwa kuoshwa!

3. In 2007, Raila was all set to be President...he had Ruto behind him and as a result was unstoppable...

Lakini pride and arrogance ikaingia...akaanza his 41vs 1 nonsense...

This scared voters from the 1 tribe to the core...and those in power used it as a solid excuse not to leave power.

Akina Kibaki made it look like they had to stay in power to protect their people from an impeding annihilation.

2007 was a sad case of "41 against 1" clashing with the "satanic entitlement".

The result were uglier than ugly.

4. In 2013, Raila simply underestimated his opponents.

In his mind and that of his advisors, Uhuru and Ruto were going to be jailed and he'd win almost unopposed.

Things got complicated so fast he had to beg Kalonzo to be his runningmate...even though he'd spent 5 years looking down upon Kalonzo.

In the end, he shamefully lost to his juniors who were also fighting charges at the Hague...

It was so shameful that Jakom didn't even bother to pull his usual post election dramas

5. In 2017, Raila failed to understand how Kenyans chose their president! He waste time painting Uhuru dark and issuing unnecessary threats instead of sharing alternatives.

He lost, went to court and got a second chance...but knowing he couldn't win, he struck a deal to work for Uhuru (aka handshake)

6. In 2022, Raila lost because he refused to learn from the 2017 lessons. In his mind, he thought having the state on his side was the missing ingredient.

The man was so confident of winning he even had a "final civilian dance" before he'd be a president...

Well, let's just say the shock was too much, Jakom is yet to recover...

7. Now, he's being told that Ruto is hated in Mt. Kenya and Rift Valley...that he's going to win by a landslide in 2027...

This, he's being told by known hanger-ons who cannot be elected unless Raila is on the ballot.

These are Luo misleaders who tell voters to elect them for the sole reason of "protecting Jakom huko juu" are cheering Raila to a 7th defeat.

Interestingly, he loves it!

Yes, Baba somehow believes he has a chance and is already seeing himself beating Ruto in 2027.

After falling with a thud, the people cheering him on will be in their Parliamentary/County offices with superdrums of concentrated crocodile teas.

Yote tisa, Jakom it seems Jakom gains more from vying and losing! Otherwise, his candidature won't make sense!
