Does more choice make us more miserable?

Think about this. If I gave you two candy bar options to choose from, it’s safe to say you’d pick your favorite and be relatively satisfied with that choice. Right? 🍫🍫

But what if I gave you a choice between 20 different candy bars?

Would you be equally as satisfied with your choice? Of course you wouldn’t.

You’d spend the rest of the day wondering what life would have been like had you chosen the Charleston Chew.

This is the paradox of choice—the more choices you have, the less satisfied you are with each one.

I love paradoxes. They’re amazing because they force us to hold two opposing ideas in our mind at the same time.

On the surface, these appear to be a contradiction, but if you look beneath the surface and unpack them in a 30-minute podcast episode like I did, you’ll find some important life truths like these:

✴️ We avoid uncomfortable things to lead easier lives, but it’s building resilience against discomfort which makes life easier.

✴️ We judge people for holding certain traits because we are projecting our distastes for the same traits we hold ourselves.

✴️You aren’t truly able to gauge how valuable and meaningful something is in your life until you're able to imagine being dead.

✴️And much more…
