If you're interested in influencing the elections outcome, now is about the time to loudly declare who you support + the time to start activating turnout all around you.
Turnout will be CRITICAL. Like really, super, insanely, unbelievably important. Get everyone activated.
@kirstblair Jhb had 2 Aljamaa mayors. And it led to an eventual ANC led council. Knysna ankther example. So really not too hard to understand the warning.
@kirstblair Not irresponsible at all! Joburg had 2 mayors from Al Jamah.
Instead of looking after the interests of the people who voted for them, they gave the council back to the ANC wwith the support of other small parties including ActionSA.
Voting for small parties doesn't work well
@NewStreetsSA Gautrain remains heavily loss making. Gauteng taxpayers subsidise it with billions per year. Rail (esp new high speed) sadly not financially feasible in SA. Sad reality.
Rugby's Greatest Rivalry is coming to Baltimore, and we had to put the squad to the test!
The All Blacks and Springboks will face off at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12.

From @TheAthletic: South Africa vs. New Zealand, rugby union’s best teams, will face off in Baltimore in what's been christened "Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry." It has been presented that way precisely to appeal to the U.S., the world’s richest sports market. https://t.co/28amT36yaG
This weekend, two great sporting traditions come together as the Springboks and All Blacks take one of rugby’s greatest rivalries to @Ravens M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
I can’t wait for Americans to get a taste of this incredible rivalry. But what if we flipped the script and brought American football to South Africa? @NFL
Ardie Savea: "We can't give a big hand-up to the Springboks because they're real champs for a reason. If you do that, you ain't coming back." Full press conference on YouTube @brendennel.

This is why Zille needs to win Johannesburg, & decisively! If she does not get an overall majority, the city & SA are doomed. Her victory & the clean up she will subsequently undertake is necessary.

News24’s latest hit piece on AfriForum:
AfriForum demonstrates its commitment to transparency by responding to News24’s allegations in the video below and in the article at this link: https://t.co/tB5j7KcsCz…
In contrast, News24 refused to answer any of the questions I put to them regarding their parent company’s R8 million donation to the ANC and why News24/Media24 stopped publishing its financial statements in 2021.
The remuneration figures that News24 attributes to AfriForum’s directors are false and based on incorrect information that does not appear in AfriForum’s financial statements. For example, AfriForum pays no remuneration to Werner Human, while there are also numerous other errors.
Below is the correspondence I sent to Kyle Cowan from News24 last week:
⸻
Good day Kyle,
Thank you for your email. As always, I will gladly respond.
AfriForum is proud of the content of the organisation’s financial reports submitted to the Department of Social Development in accordance with the Department’s reporting requirements. Over the past 20 years, since AfriForum was established, these reports have not only been approved by the Department but are also based on AfriForum’s financial statements, which have received clean audits throughout the same 20-year period.
I wish to place on record that, in the interest of transparency, AfriForum has already answered 79 questions from News24 comprehensively. AfriForum’s detailed response to News24’s first fishing expedition, consisting of 67 questions, apparently failed to provide any material to advance News24’s anti-AfriForum agenda. News24 subsequently made a second attempt with a further 12 questions, which AfriForum also answered comprehensively. In apparent desperation, News24 has now continued its fishing expedition with another 26 questions.
It should also be placed on record that, unlike AfriForum, which has demonstrated a commitment to transparency, News24 has steadfastly refused to answer any questions regarding the R8 million donation, or any other amount, allegedly made by the group of which it forms part to the ANC in recent years, as well as why the company of which News24 forms part stopped publishing its financial statements in 2021. Unlike AfriForum, News24 has also categorically refused to grant AfriForum access to News24’s financial statements and salary information.
Nevertheless, I will gladly answer your 26 new questions as soon as I receive answers to the six questions I asked regarding News24’s links to donations made to the ANC and its financial matters. The questions put to News24 will not disappear, and I therefore await your response so that I may proceed with providing AfriForum’s further answers. News24 is encouraged to demonstrate the same level of transparency as AfriForum.
To refresh your memory, below is the substance of the questions that you and News24 have now refused to answer for almost a month, and which you are once again requested to answer:
• Can News24 confirm that its parent company, Naspers, donated R8 million, or any other amount, to the ANC between 2021 and 2025?
• Is News24 comfortable with the fact that its parent company funds a corrupt political party and is therefore indirectly complicit in promoting corruption?
• If News24 is uncomfortable with Naspers’s support for the ANC, has News24 expressed its opposition to such support? If not, why not?
• Do you agree that Naspers’s support for the ANC, while News24 pursues what appears to be a political vendetta against organisations such as AfriForum that expose ANC corruption, has the effect of protecting the ANC?
• News24/Media24 stopped publishing its financial statements in 2021. May I request that you send me the unpublished financial statements? Please also explain why you stopped publishing them. In addition, please provide me with the salaries of News24’s journalists.
I await your response.
Kind regards
Kallie Kriel
Ah yes, Gayton. The man who once roared about the poor, the forgotten, the “baizanie” left behind by the ANC… now casually drops a R30.9 million World Cup shopping list and tells us there’s “nothing to hide.”
Of course there’s nothing to hide. You don’t hide the carcass when the whole township can smell the braai.
R7.8 million just to fly the Minister, the DG, support staff and a project team across the ocean so they could “be on the ground.” Because apparently Zoom still hasn’t been invented in the Department of Sport. R6.7 million for a legends match. R3.3 million for suites. R3 million for tickets. Another R10 million for fan zones, artists, branding and the rest of the circus. All while South Africans are still boiling water on paraffin stoves, sending kids to school hungry, and watching their clinics run out of basic medicine.
But sure, Gayton. Tell us again how this was “nation building.” Tell the grandmother in a corrugated shack who hasn’t seen a grant in weeks that her tax contribution helped fund hospitality suites in Atlanta. Tell the unemployed young man in Eldorado Park that the R31 million was an “investment in South Africa’s image.”
This is the Patriotic Alliance in government. The same PA that spent years screaming about ANC looting, only to discover that once you get a seat at the table the gravy tastes exactly the same. The GNU isn’t a new dawn. It’s just a bigger table with more forks.
Thirty-one million rand for a football tourism jolly while the country starves. And the best part? He published the breakdown himself and still expects applause for transparency.
That’s not accountability. That’s just rubbing our faces in it.
