THE IMPORTANCE OF ENABLING ACTIONS AND SHOT PREPARATION: THE ANTON S EDITION 🤍💙💛

▫️Passing lane opens up as Anton shuffles to his left - weight of pass is everything here. Jaka has to put zip on it or it gets intercepted.

▫️ Anton sets feet to receive on the half-turn. Hips open; receiving leg slightly elevated to take some of the momentum out of the ball; toes on receiving leg face towards the space he's looking to attack; whilst support leg pivots on toes.

▫️Because of the zip on the pass, this enables Anton to cushion with his first touch and play into the direction he wants. Without that pace, the action isn't possible.

▫️ Shortening of steps to find correct foot position to strike the ball. Notice how Anton's stride changes from being hips open and rangy length, to short tippy-toe steps, then back to range in order to get his planted foot next to the ball and toes facing the goal. Incredibly important shot preparation.

▫️The strike itself wasn't the cleanest for someone of Anton's ball striking calibre, but the speed of execution was exceptional - which is what caught the goalkeeper out. It took just one second from first touch to shot. This meant the keeper struggled to set (eyes on the keeper in the last clip). Insane trigger for a weak foot shot 🤯

Just a fantastic goal at full speed!
