The Competition Tribunal will on Friday, 14 August 2026, hear an application for interim relief brought by Zaza Gas (Pty) Ltd. The respondents are Air Products South Africa (Pty) Ltd (“APSA”); Weldamax, trading as Unique Welding & Alloys (Pty) Ltd (“Weldamax”); and Remgro Limited. The hearing will be conducted virtually.
The matter arises from allegations by Zaza Gas of a contravention of the Competition Act through conduct involving customer allocation and foreclosure, in contravention of sections 4(1)(a), 4(1)(b)(ii) and 5(1) of the Act.
Zaza Gas seeks an order directing APSA to temporarily reinstate it as an authorised distributor of packaged industrial gases, pending the final determination of its self-referred complaint.
