Nassim Taleb, the father of antifragility, who knows the one truth about risk almost nobody else has ever fully understood:
"There's one specific mistake almost every investor makes when they think they're being careful, and I can show you exactly what it is, because it's the same mistake that's quietly cost people everything, over and over, for generations."
this is the exact category most risk models have no name for, because they only ever measured two states, broken or not broken yet.
cut through the definition and the missing category is the whole point. something fragile breaks under stress. something robust resists stress and stays the same.
but there's a third category almost nobody had named before, something that actually improves because of stress, the way a bone gets denser under load or a muscle gets stronger after being torn down.
that third category changes the entire question you should be asking about any system. it's not enough to ask whether something can survive a shock.
you have to ask whether the absence of shocks is quietly making it weaker, the same way a bone in a cast for too long comes out thinner than it went in.
most people judging whether a position or a strategy is safe check how it's performed recently, without asking the harder question of whether that recent calm has been quietly making the underlying structure weaker instead of stronger.
zoom out to how this plays out managing a portfolio through an unusually calm, low volatility stretch on a desk today.
a strategy that looks stable purely because nothing has gone wrong recently isn't necessarily robust, it might be getting more fragile with every calm day that passes, exactly like a system that was never actually tested losing whatever resilience it once had.
this is exactly what "nothing has gone wrong so it must be stable" reasoning skips. surviving quietly and actually strengthening under stress are different properties, and a system can look perfectly fine right up until the day the missing stress finally arrives.
stability was never proven by a calm stretch. calm can be exactly what was making things worse the entire time.

I'm obsessed with cognitive biases.
A "cognitive bias" is a built-in glitch in our brain that quietly sabotages good decisions.
These are the 11 craziest and most dangerous cognitive biases I've found: 👇

Remember what I said. Japan is waiting for Trump to green light Japan increasing rates and unwinding the reverse carry trade.
However if Japan does that, it’ll sink the American economy and Trumps midterms. The only way to avoid that is by having the clarity act pass first before Japan increases rates.
So to avoid everything, the USA is stepping in and helping Japan to ensure no RCT takes place yet.
As I stated before, we could have both things happening at the same time. Clarity and RCT 🤯…combined that with a supply shock and we are now in business!
BREAKING: 🇯🇵 THE BANK OF JAPAN JUST INVOKED EMERGENCY ARTICLE #589 TO PREVENT A MARKET CRASH ON MONDAY!
THEY'RE AGGRESSIVELY DUMPING U.S. ASSETS TO SAVE THE ECONOMY.
Lower selenium levels are found a lot of the time in people who experience psoriasis.
Guess what depletes the crap out of our selenium reserves? Mercury.
The risk of developing psoriasis increases by 8% for each 1-unit increase in total blood mercury.
🚨 JAPAN COULD CRASH MARKETS NEXT WEEK
Another US-Japan yen intervention could come as early as next week.
The last one (1998) was followed by a 20% crash in US stocks.
This is 50-100x bigger. 🫣
🚨‼️ Lord Belgrave Is Back
The most powerful ex-City of London banker just posted the dual bleeding swans.
That image isn’t art. It’s a warning.
Something catastrophic is coming.
And the City of London, the machine that runs global finance, already knows.
His previous posts hinted at the exact pressure points.
He hinted long ago about the yen carry trade, oil spikes and liquidity event. It’s unwinding in real time right now…
So violently that the U.S. Treasury Secretary himself is taking emergency action to stop the full cascade.
They saw it. They’re preparing.
The old system is about to bleed.

🚨 The City of London Is Preparing for the Biggest Financial Bloodbath in Decades
A high-level figure from the City of London @LordBelgrave just broke silence.
The City Of London isn’t just a financial district. It’s a separate jurisdiction, with its own police and military system, effectively a country of its own at the center of London, controlled by an elite global network that no government fully oversees… and it runs global finance.
This man has sat in the closed-door meetings for decades.
Every time he quietly shared what was discussed behind those doors, it eventually played out exactly as he said.
Look at his previous post. He laid out the exact sequence:
Oil turmoil → Yen carry trade unwind → liquidity crisis → systemic event.
He had even posted the Euro sign with Japanese yen. Today, Washington has stepped in hard, dumping euros to buy yen, coordinating with the Bank of Japan, while Japan (and others) dump dollars.
It’s happening in real time.
His latest image.. two swans, both bleeding is the clearest signal yet:
THE CITY OF LONDON IS PREPARING FOR A FULL BLOODBATH.
The pressure is so extreme they’re intervening to stop the cascade.
The elites already know. They’re positioned.
The bloodbath is no longer a theory. The Fiat Era is nearing its implosion.
