I spoke to my old friend Lindsey Graham this morning, the senior Senator from South Carolina. He’s still recovering in the hospital. We talked for just shy of 20 minutes … about IRAN, UKRAINE, the unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the William Henry Harrison Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history. I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible.
AIPAC mourns the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham, a great friend and true champion of the U.S.-Israel relationship. For more than two decades in the United States Senate, his voice was a constant reminder that a strong Israel is firmly in America’s national security interest, and his commitment to these principles never wavered. His many visits to Israel and his love for the Israeli people reflected not just a policy position, but a deep personal connection to the Jewish state and its citizens.
Senator Graham played a vital role in confronting the threats posed by Iran. He led the fight to impose sanctions that hold Iran and its proxies accountable, and he spoke with moral clarity about the need for the United States to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel against common enemies. Through his leadership, he helped build bipartisan coalitions that made clear America would never allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
We extend our condolences to Senator Graham’s family, friends, staff, and the people of South Carolina, whom he served with dedication for more than 30 years. AIPAC is grateful for his lifetime of service to America and his determination to ensure the alliance between the United States and Israel remains strong for generations to come. His leadership, friendship, and moral conviction made a lasting difference, and his memory will be a blessing to all who care about the security of the United States, Israel, and our shared democratic values.
Today, Israel has lost one of its greatest friends.
Senator Lindsey Graham stood with Israel not because it was easy, but because he believed it was right. His unwavering support, courage, and moral clarity earned him the admiration of millions of Israelis.
The State of Israel will always remember his friendship, his unwavering support, and his steadfast commitment to Israel’s security.
Heartfelt condolences to his family and to the American people.
May his memory be a blessing.
