Earlier this year, El Niño’s floods devastated Nairobi’s informal settlements, claiming lives, and damaging homes and critical infrastructure. When floodwaters removed the bridge at Kibera Public Space Project 07, it left the community vulnerable and cut off.
Early May, unprecedented flooding in Nairobi led the @InteriorKE to order residents of informal settlements to evacuate 30-meter riparian zones within 48 hours. We've seen widespread forced evictions & demolitions, with Kibera awaiting its fate.
