LCD’s were so not a thing that all of the movies (Front end, primarily) in Prime 1 were encoded as 640x224 interlaced. If the movie skipped a frame, we had to skip two frames otherwise we would be on the wrong interlace clock, and it would look completely screwed there on out.
My memory surprises me when I remember making Metroid Prime with a little 14" CRT on my desk connected to a Dolphin devkit. CRT TVs were the the primary target for game. LCD display were still not generally available. Game does look great on LCDs too!
@ZoidCTF The worst is account number where you can send date to that but you can’t paste to the “verify number” field. So I just read what was pasted and type it.
@kiwitalkz It’s because big tech forced salaries up by like double, then games spending went up during the pandemic which seemed to validate those. Hard to blame management because hiring costs have just exploded.
@kiwitalkz Legally, it's extremely difficult to lay full time staff off in Japan. Capcom will do it in America: https://t.co/9R8oUYfY5q
They also outsource a lot of their development, but you won't hear about canceled projects and prototypes from 3rd party devs that result in layoffs.
