“Dear Sunderland, I wanted to write to you about my mate Jack.”
When @SunderlandAFC’s Wilson Isidor read Jack’s story, he felt compelled to visit his Mum, Jackie.
What followed will remain with them forever ❤️
Euro 2024 is the awakening we needed. At some point, our definition of “good football” got lost to data nerds and possession-botherers.
Last few days we’ve had long-range screamers, huge #9’s, lumping it in the box, and wingers running AT defenders.
We are all happier for it!
One last bump:
Decades of low birth rates have turned Britain into a Boomerocracy, pushing the country into a demographic death spiral.
The over 55's account for more than half of votes cast, and politicians relentlessly pander to their interests - destroying the future of young Britons, and exacerbating the original problem. As taxes rise and house prices spiral, birth rates keep falling.
Fertility intentions – the number of children women want and intend to have – have remained at replacement level in Europe even as birth rates have fallen. The gap between the two doesn’t seem hard to explain: ask young people in America why they haven’t had children, and the list is familiar: childcare is too expensive, raising children is too expensive, their situation is too financially precarious.
The situation in Britain is so bad today if births had been maintained at their 1972 level, there would be more than a million more children in the country. It is a bleak thought that many would have been dearly loved by their parents, who simply could not afford to have them.
Our strategy of robbing the young to pay the old is destroying our future: https://t.co/Es2jawQnDh
I see @transportgovuk has deleted its ‘Network North’ post.
But it is too late.
They have already revealed everything that is wrong with the way the country is run.

20 years ago a little telly program appeared on Channel 4 that nobody watched cos they were all at the pub. I was just a boy, fumbling around in my first acting job. Anyway, it did alright in the end. Thanks largely to @jessearmstrong1@sambaintv@arobertwebb@RealDMitchell
I'm the guy who tried to stop this lad from becoming a graphic designer. I will not stop until his career is destroyed. Nobody does graphic design on my watch
An ending was inevitable, though your partnership felt infinite.
15 years of wickets, countless memories, stunning moments and absolute greatness.
We'll never see anything like this again.
