@osprey_xviii @the_transit_guy It pains me to say this, but honestly mid-town Houston (aside from the crippling heat) is surprisingly walkable, the "standard" block size is pretty small, and the notorious "no zoning" means there's a good mix of commercial stuff. Rest of city, not so much.

There were horrific disasters but on the other hand the city mandated connection to the city sewers from horse barns years before tenements.
