A-League clubs should follow a similar approach.

Foreign players should fall into two categories:
1) Highly experienced, level-raising players whose experience can help academy players develop.
2) Young players from undervalued markets who can be sold for a profit.

There should only be 8-10 Australian players over the age of 22 at each club. At least half of this group should be academy products or club stalwarts who are unable or unwilling to make the jump overseas and who are solid A-League players. An aim of this group should be to provide continuity and stability - both for squad cohesion and for the fans to be able to identify with players who have been at the club for many years. A couple should be experienced Australians returning from good careers overseas and the rest can come from other A-League clubs or NPL.

The rest should be academy players. The focus should be to maximise the talent of these players with the goal of selling these players to underwrite and develop the future of the club. Every recruitment decision should be made with this goal in mind.

Trossard's assist for Zubimendi is brilliant for me because of:

- The pausa (delay) to attract a second Sunderland defender enough to open the passing angle

- The clear communication behind the pass that essentially demands for Zubimendi to shoot first time

Sydney FC have only kept 1 clean sheet in all competitions this season.

While they might be tactically the most interesting team in the A-League due to Talay's relationism style of play, it has come with some out of possession teething issues so far.

@briankirsty I definitely wouldn't for bigger games, but considering Popovic has said many players can't make it through two 90's in the window, I think he would be good as a wingback against weaker opposition with his range of crossing

@briankirsty I think considering how little time Popovic had with the squad prior to the Japan game, it made sense to really focus on defensive structure. I wouldn't be surprised to see a more clear counter-attacking plan in our next game against them, but it's all about risk-reward

The ability to access the space between the lines and perform actions quickly in that space is exactly what we lacked against China (the latter partly solved by McGree in 2nd half)

I feel as though fourth official's and refs are well within their rights to not engage, respond and explain themselves when being yelled at and/or verbally abused.

This is a comment about all coaches, not just Arteta, but I find it really amusing how they are always so surprised at a lack of dialogue with the fourth official/referee after they spend large parts of the match screaming at them as if the referees aren't human.
