Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay.
We can all help to prevent suicide by starting the conversation and creating a culture of openness, understanding and support.
Remember, it is not always obvious when somebody needs help.

Watch this it’s fascinating - I asked James Timpson what he’d do about prisons and sentencing if he was in charge. He believes only a third of prisoners in jail should definitely be there. He’s now in charge of prisons (but not sentencing).
Like fingerprints, energy levels for exotic nuclei are unique. A new approach from @michiganstateu, @WUSTL, @argonne & @UniOfSurrey helps understand these exotic nuclei. They have large numbers of neutrons and often only exist for a fraction of a second: https://t.co/kQqK09pQeU
We regret to inform you that we will not be giving away insulin, a publicly funded invention that was given away by its creator to be given away to people so they don’t die.

Finally got this paper out! The 17O(alpha,gamma) rate is now well-determined at temperatures above 0.3 GK. The 305-keV resonance remains the main uncertainty at core-He burning temps. Indirect transfer studies are in the works!
