@zoemaestra@WFC_Will@amphichrome_ It’s forced perspective, but his work is definitely inspired by a real hill in Bristol that I’ve had the displeasure of driving up before.
@MC34197342@ned_flaczynski Special relativity wasn’t made up to justify the big bang, we didn’t find evidence for the big bang until 30 years after Einstein came up with relativity.
It was developed as a way to always make light travel at the same speed, and it turned out to be true.
@TheMirzaBeig Random events can have a cause. That cause just needs to be non-deterministic. We can only model some phenomena by using probabilities, so they are fundamentally random.
@DeaconSpade6@rhymewithocean The drum machine the drums come from was invented by Japanese people. The drum pack is probably Metro Boomin Trap drums, and the Banjo comes from West Africa.
@glynnlc@DGlaucomflecken I don’t think this is true, this is an easily searchable fact that you don’t need prior information to understand.
It’s much more important to educate people on underlying processes, so they can understand how new meds work, than to make them remember all drug interactions.
@Factcheckmy0@GrantrGregory@JuanIsidro@wanyeburkett I mean, you’re correct. But the policy wasn’t implemented to show that police are all racist, it was implemented so that events which could have been caused by racism or police incompetence were investigated. That was always the goal.
@_everythingism@spectraimsim@slugopolis It’s a very common undergrad-level project as well, there are probably thousands of codebases lying about on GitHub.
@Logical_TD@ChShersh I studied Roobtics and I’m in a similar position. We learned more embedded systems and control theory than computer science and it’s been a problem at a few interviews. (Even for jobs involving embedded systems!)
@PsychCaptainX@politicalmath In the UK you can only report like this until someone has been charged. If you don’t you can be in contempt of court.
You can say that someone has been arrested, on what charge, but you can’t give out details that would prejudice a jury.
@CesarzPontu@Mapgazer@nikicaga Lots of Caribbean people came to the UK to work in the 60s and 70s, they settled down here and now many people in British cities have Caribbean heritage. That’s the same as Irish-Americans.
@AlfonsoHegao@ArmoredNorman They’re too cautious, iirc they retreat to dark places when threatened. The pot is the dark place so when it gets lifted they just get to the back of the pot.
@hello123_______@changanomaly You’re not wrong, maybe it’s better to say all art can politicised. As in you - the viewer - can find political meaning in most art if you want to.
@itodd888@221Bbees@Andercot He wasn’t really outside the system though, he graduated from the top university in Switzerland then couldn’t get a job as a lecturer while he was completing his PhD, so found something to do.
@danton3wuzhere@nikicaga No sorry, even if 2% of the population owned slaves, it’s still a massive part of American history.
There’s a whole ethnic group in the US that exists because of slavery. That’s a big deal.
