My wife, @ltmphd and I were privileged to join @TXCivilRights on a border tour in South Texas.
We visited colonias without water or electricity, heard from healthcare workers serving the largest uninsured community in the U.S., and crossed into Matamoros, where asylum-seeking families wait in tents but hold onto hope.
What we saw was not the dangerous region portrayed in media, but a vibrant community. As Luz said: "This is not a crime-place, this is a family-place."
Thank you @RochelleMGarza and @TXCivilRights for showing us the strength of South Texas.
