@DOBrienATL You and Seth Emerson are the main reasons I subscribe to the Athletic. Appreciate your candor and opinions as well as the regular reporting. And especially not taking any shit from the idiots out there. They’re probably the same ones that try to argue the game with @RealCJ10 on X
The Nick Shirley Video Story
Minnesota. Gray winter sky. Snow that looks like it’s been stepped on by a thousand excuses.
The ‘Daycare’ looks asleep. Middle of the day. No cars. No kids. No noise. Just a crooked sign out front with a word misspelled so badly it feels like a confession.
He just stares at it a beat, deadpan, letting the camera drink it in like cheap whiskey before he moves.
Nick Shirley doesn’t walk in like a politician. He walks in like a problem.
He did the most dangerous thing you can do in a system built on autopilot—
—he showed up.
Not online. Not in a studio. In real places—daycares and offices that are supposed to be full of kids and purpose—except they look empty in the middle of a weekday.
And while everyone else argues in circles, the numbers are sitting there like a body on the floor:
A federal prosecutor said “half or more” of roughly $18 billion tied to 14 Minnesota-run programs since 2018 may have been stolen.
CBS Minnesota/AP reported that the total fraud could be $9 billion or more, with those programs deemed “high risk.”
Nick doesn’t need to add special effects. The stats and the hijabs already hit like satire.
So he keeps it simple. He points the camera at the obvious. He asks the basic questions people hate answering.
And the political blast radius follows. Even JD Vance reposted Nick’s report and said: “This dude has done far more useful journalism than any of the winners of the 2024 [Pulitzer] prizes.”
Nick didn’t crack this with a genius theory.
He cracked it with shoe leather and a lens.
He walked up to places that were cashing checks.
He looked at the sign.
He looked at the building.
He let the silence testify.
And it’s incredible when you really think about what he actually did—because if the alleged scale is even close to true, then this isn’t just one viral video.
It’s the kind of spark that can force audits, trigger raids, flip programs, and make a whole state’s machine start sweating in public.
It’s what could happen when someone finally knocks on the door.
It’s not just the Somalis in Minnesota.
The Dems opened up our nation to anyone who would come here and vote for them, in exchange for our tax dollars.
They use shell companies to funnel public money to the immigrants, meaning we are slaves that fund the people replacing us.
This is why the Dems so desperately don’t want voter ID. Because they are wittingly engaged in a scheme to let the illegals vote, which allows them to stay in power, which allows them to continue to steal our tax dollars.
It’s all one giant racket, an We the People are the suckers.
