Hi John, Irish Jew here, daughter of a German born Holocaust survivor and no, I have never experienced antisemitism here in Ireland. I'm very happy with our boycott of the Eurovision and Richie Sadler's comments re the football match. I'm extremely proud of my fellow Irish and their stand against genocide. As my late mother taught me.."Never again means never again..to anyone ..anywhere... ever.." I hope this clarifies the issue for you.
Today I challenged the Taoiseach on a decision taken by former Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe to transfer €141.4 million to the World Bank, €10 million more than the Bank itself sought and in direct contradiction of his own officials’ advice.
This happened just months before he resigned as Finance Minister to take up a €600,000 a year job with the World Bank.
We’ll keep going until we get a straight answer.
With all the chat today being about the election of our next president, it's worth taking a second to pay tribute to this man.
One day he could politely be waiting in line for the ATM then eviscerating international war criminals the day after.
Go raibh maith agat a Uachtaráin
I can't stop thinking about 1 sentence in today's UN report regarding Israel's genocide in Gaza.
"Israeli security forces shot at & killed civilians, including children who were holding makeshift white flags. Some children, including toddlers, were shot in the head by snipers.”
@Tipler1983 What about someone who was born a Catholic and converts to protestantism? Or a protestant member of the organisation who subsequently marries a Catholic? Would expulsion on those grounds be bigotry?
As Gaza city is flattened & a level 5 man-made famine confirmed
As toddlers die of starvation & parents are shot getting flour
As England arms those commit these crimes
They haul kneecap to court and pull the Mary Wallopers off a stage for chanting Free Palestine
Unforgivable
The UN has just confirmed "famine" in #Gaza City for the first time.
We Irish, who remember our history, know what's happening. It's genocide.
History will not be kind to those political leaders who dont call this out. 🇮🇪🇵🇸
#FreePalestine
You’re not imagining being ripped off! A major report published today reveals Ireland is the second most expensive country in the EU. We’re paying some of the highest prices for food, electricity, and gas.
As the rip-off continues, FF-FG refuse to help. That’s not going to cut it! The government must act now with real cost-of-living supports. People need relief from these crushing price hikes!
Something seriously wrong with a society which seeks to punish artistic expression but not the mass slaughter of human beings.
Solidarity with #Kneecap 🇮🇪🇵🇸
Israeli war criminals should be before the courts, not Mo Chara of Kneecap.
Sinn Féin joined with huge crowds at court in solidarity with Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh & the people of Palestine.
The Irish people will not be silenced by the British establishment.
Saoirse don Phalaistín! 🇵🇸
Update:
The Israeli army committed a horrible massacre today in Gaza killing 88 civilian Palestinians including 60 who were trying to get humanitarian aid.
The total number of Palestinian civilians killed near the so called “ humanitarian aid centers” in the last weeks is 403.
@marcrock100 You do understand that artistic expression can be more than written lyrics, aye?
Also, you seem to have have missed the comparison here with the systemic mass murder of 60,000 people which has not met the same opposition from the British state as the act of waving a flag...
"Mo Chara’s real problem is that the message he put out landed. Working-class people aren’t meant to speak like this, organise like this, or connect struggles across borders like this. That’s what scares them.
While Mo Chara stands in the dock for allegedly waving a flag, those complicit in a genocide walk the streets untouched. Since October 2023, over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza – entire families erased, journalists targeted, children bombed in their beds.
More than 300 officials at the Foreign Office raised their concerns about Israel’s “stark … disregard for international law”. And yet, the UK government continues to greenlight arms deals and offer diplomatic cover. That’s not a performance. That’s a conscious policy decision. Made in Westminster, paid for by the taxpayer, and buried beneath silence.
They’ve tried this before. Give Ireland Back to the Irish – banned. Christy Moore – detained. The Pogues’ Streets of Sorrow – silenced for decades. And now, it seems to be Mo Chara – for turning protest into poetry, politics into art.
So here’s the question – the same one Pete Seeger asked, the same one Mo Chara asks now: Which side are you on?

Israeli air strikes killed 66 Palestinian civilians today including many children. Most of the victims and many of the injured are under the rubble.
2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza are starving due to 96 days of the Israeli siege on Gaza .
The HSE are refusing to listen to 171 Donegal doctors and all of our public representatives.
We will not accept second class health services anymore. We demand a Surgical Hub for Letterkenny University Hospital.
The Minister for Health must now urgently intervene.
