@Austen@SpoutHandle@loveit2333 And there is your snap moment. You deliberately missed "endangering safety" off your original list. That's why Flo was sent off. It was a red card. No malice on his part at all, but he had to walk.
@bwalsh_123 I meant that with sincerity. Happy to engage in a genuine conversation about football if you would like to, no point scoring either way on my part.
@sstaedtler8787@RCAggie@saltyposaune Hey man, how are you?
It was a red card, unfortunately. No intent on Flo's part, but the ref had no choice.
The ref had zero say in the outcome of the game - USA won 2-0 and scored the second goal after the sending off. So everyone is happy, and Haji Wright gets gametime!
@shaunmmaguire Assuming you're engaging in the conversation in good grace:
Contact started above the height of the ball, went down his calf and landed on his ankle. There was no malice at all on Balogun's part at all, but by the laws of the game he endangered a player's safety.
@p_h_Chandler Intent doesn't come into it. There was absolutely no malice on Balogun's part, but unfortunately the challenge was a red card offence. His studs hit the top of the calf (above the ball), scraped down and then landed on his ankle.
@swbarns@shaunmmaguire There would have been a conversation about a FIFA pro-American plot had he not been sent off. Just like there was when Messi wasn't sent off for a similar challenge against Algeria.
@dogavic@TheAthleticFC There is nuance. Coming from behind (having conceded first). There may have been an implication on their part, but ultimately a missing detail. I agree it was incorrect, but I don't think it was intentional. That's what I was trying to get at if you see what I mean?
@mufcberks@dogavic@TheAthleticFC I agree, hence me saying it was poorly worded. I think the intent was right and proper, but phrased it wrong. Would appear that they have deleted their tweet so perhaps going to rectify it.
Either way, it's coming home though right?!
@dogavic@TheAthleticFC Yes and no - the stat is "having conceded the first goal in the game", not "coming from behind". Nuanced, yes. Maybe unintentionally worded.
@sstaedtler8787@RCAggie@saltyposaune Go watch the 2022 final between France and Argentina. Unreal game, back and forth, lots of goals, and if you wanna talk about it after and ask questions or whatever then gimme a shout.
Similar type of euphoria as Falcons v Pats Super Bowl as a neutral.
@sstaedtler8787@RCAggie@saltyposaune Most TD's look obvious because of the size of the end zone, as do most goals because of the nature of the game. But they all get reviewed instantly. If you don't like football, that's cool, but saying "offside" is the reason it's shit then give it another chance.
