I do numbers for Democrats but all takes here are hot and uninformed by data | Pro-Cleveland, anti-suburbanism, pro-Survivor, anti-anti-vaxx | Penn '19
From 1966 to 2025 we dropped sterile flies over South America that ate screwworm and thus prevented them from spreading, but the le epic efficient cracked coders at DOGE thought this was a silly waste of the ~0 dollars it cost us.
And it’s being covered by mainstream news outlets, but it really feels like it’s not being covered as *the* narrative of the moment when it’s more corrupt than anything any other president has done. Ten years in and the bar is still below the floor for Trump Republicans.
What’s most infuriating about the slush fund story is that it was so obvious - of course all Trump cares about is rewarding himself and the people who tried to destroy democracy for him - but voters and pundits alike can be shocked because of how bad the sanewashing was in 2024.
I’m obviously pro-rail and bus lane, but any mid-sized European city makes it abundantly clear how revolutionary busses with fewer stops and even moderate improvements in frequency/reliability could be anywhere here.
I love the baseball farm system because it means that every year for a select group of young men, “you’re going to Cleveland” is the greatest sentence they’ve ever heard in their lives
"I was like, 'yeah, I'm going golfing too', and he's like, 'no, you're going to Cleveland'"

We’re not injured, we did the Big Trade, and we’ve still given up in front of a home crowd that’s mostly road fans. At least in the post-LeBron eras we could hope for rebuilds. What exactly is the optimistic case for this iteration of the Cavs?
We need DC statehood so that smart, ambitious politicians who dream of being a governor or Senator can run for local office as a springboard to real power, instead of whatever it is we have now.
In all likelihood, the next mayor of DC will either be someone who thinks parking lots are people or who will bankrupt the city under the guidance of her mentor Trayon White. This is humiliating for us.
We traded the soul of our team for a playoff choker with no personality, had a very good rest of the regular season but not strong enough to crush any doubts, and are bumbling through the playoffs on our way to a crushing ECF loss. If you want fun, watch the Guardians.
The Cavs had more success this season than any non LeBron season since before I was alive yet it was one of the least fun seasons I’ve ever watched. Is this just a me problem or was it kind of miserable for everyone else too?
I’d say I regret to inform you that the Guardians are back, but dark magic Guardsball absolutely never left despite the rest of the American League (and Fangraphs) trying to manifest it away.
That’s the first time in franchise history — which dates to 1901 — in which the Guardians won a game 1-0 with the run coming on a pinch-hit home run, per the Elias Sports Bureau.
Like, if you hate the New Era then 50 is only going to feel like the culmination of Survivor’s worst excesses. But if you see it (as I do) as a step down from pure Survivor that still has given us some great moments, 50 is one of the better executions of what this show is now.
I get the sentiment behind this, but I think we’ll all feel better if we evaluate 50 for what it was - a season with a fantastic cast and more great episodes than bad - rather than comparing it to the mythical pure throwback all star season we would’ve wanted.
I'll always see #Survivor50 as the missed opportunity season. There were so many highs, some great characters, some beautiful storytelling & fun antics, some great nods to what makes #Survivor incredible. But it was brought down by twists, the limited new era format, an uneven cast & the wrong emphasis on what hasn't fuelled the show for 50 seasons. It sucks knowing how good it should have been. All they had to do was nothing.
Obviously everyone on here would much rather see a dramatic live reunion (among many other things). But we know enough about Jeff and Survivor to know that we were never really getting that, and I’m shocked by how many people are acting like they’ve never watched the show before.
Every major reality tv show has a reunion.
People who spend months watching a show want to see the cast all back together.
People want to hear how cast members are reacting to things they’ve watched.
People want to know what the cast is up to.
This shouldn’t be difficult.
