Today is my Grandparent’s 65th wedding anniversary.
65 years, 3 children, 9 grandchildren, 9 (soon to be 11) great-grandchildren.
Like they do every Sunday, they arrived early to teach Sunday School at the small church my Grandfather grew up in.
So thankful.
We'll do whatever it takes to fix K-12 education — including changing state laws.
There are now 50,000+ new locations where microschools can open across Florida.
If we’re going to fix our K-12 education system, we need to launch 1,000’s of new schools.
Let's get to work.
Today’s guest, @delk, is on a mission to build a company that creates more ambitious students who can think for themselves.
His model empowers the top 1% of teachers to leave the traditional system and start micro-schools in their communities.
Ryan is the CEO and Founder of Primer — a platform that helps teachers launch micro-schools in their communities. He’s spent the last decade building tech companies (like Square, Gumroad, and Omni) and was homeschooled K - 8th grade, which served as the early inspiration for Primer.
We discuss:
- The state of education in America
- Building Primer
- Ryan’s mission to save San Francisco
0:48 - Homeschooling & education in America
14:28 - Are we getting smarter in the current way we learn in school
16:39 - Building Primer
24:30 - The process of starting a Microschool
29:38 - Zoning challenges & changing legislation
36:35 - Raising money from iconic investors
41:28 - Do people actively try to stop Primer from existing?
44:57 - Hiring undiscovered talent
52:12 - Ryan’s mission to save San Francisco
1:00:28 - Problem paralysis
1:02:38 - GrowSF
1:10:44 - The vibe shift
1:13:21 - Getting the most out of your day
1:22:02 - It’s all fake
Attracting and hiring UNDISCOVERED talent is a characteristic of the world’s best founders.
Tomorrow’s guest, @delk, walks us through how he identifies and builds up talent that most overlook.
Sat down with my man @delk yesterday.
He’s tackling one of our countries biggest opportunities - educating our children through empowering the best teachers in the country to seamlessly start micro schools.
“We take kids seriously.”
If you haven’t met @micahlacher or heard the story behind The Russell, you’re missing out. They’re bringing in quite a bit of cash flow and 100% of profits go to charity.

7) Buy and Hold
Charlie was very surprised I don’t hold strip malls forever.
I talked about how our deals are small, and that once we add the value there is more downside than upside.
He told me to find a way to make buy and hold work.
