Always think in terms of sustaining and limiting principles and acceptance that G-d is the Only Singularity; all else is comprised of at least two parts.
I’m really excited about what’s going on with Digital Ray, which is my digital twin. I'm creating this so that everyone can have as much contact and as many conversations with me as they want—unlimited amounts, in the same sort of way that I do it. Eventually, it’s going to be a lot smarter than I am.
This is all part of the evolutionary process. It’s still a bit experimental, but it really is something. If you want to have unlimited conversations with me, go online and try it.
I also highly recommend taking the Principles You personality test. It’s online and only takes about 20 or 30 minutes. It will tell you all about your characteristics and inclinations. Integrating your assessment with Digital Ray allows for highly personalized guidance in Coach Mode, tailored to your unique needs across life and work.

Richard Sutton is of course a genius and a legend, and so self-recommending. My own view is that we didn’t have good definitions of either “novel” or “discovery” prior to AI, and so we will use AI to create many new things and never quite know what to call them.
@NBA elegant solution hiding in plain sight:
Run a postseason tournament for top 16 of the draft order. Champion gets the first pick, runner-up second, etc. East and West brackets.
✅ Incentives aligned
✅ More meaningful games
👀 💰💰
Let’s go!
- A team will tank just as hard to keep a top-4 protected pick as it will to keep a top-8 protected pick. Maybe harder.
- If lottery odds freeze at the deadline that just tells teams to start tanking earlier.
- If teams can’t pick top-four in consecutive drafts that just incentives more tanking into the middle because there’s suddenly a much cleaner path to a top-four pick with a non-bottom-four record.
- If lottery odds are allocated based on two year records then teams will just tank across multiple seasons. Whenever there’s a Wemby on the horizon this stuff will get more egregious than ever.
- Adding more lottery teams won’t convince anyone to stop tanking but it will give us some inevitably stupid result like a 47-win team that would’ve won 57 if it were healthier randomly getting a top-four pick.
- Any odds flattening just incentivizes tanking from a different portion of the league. There are absolutely teams who would be better-served in the long run taking a 1-in-14 swing in the lottery than getting swept in the first round by the No. 1 seed.
Most of these ideas are bad in pretty predictable ways, and then there are always going to be unpredictable problems that only crop up when it’s too late to fix them.
Idk what the solution is, but it’s not any of this stuff. Either get more creative and do something truly out of the box or leave it alone and let teams operate as they see fit.
@TMTLongShort Evolution is mathematically so improbable as to be impossible.
Apropos, consider a highly interpolating fourth dimension: God and His implantation of souls.
@Empty_America The case of this statue evidences that the telos of the minority of people who hold to this morality is stronger than that of the majority which does not (including the meaningful minority that is informed insufficiently to hold a firm opinion on it).
@Empty_America Don’t be misled by the simple commonality of nudity. It’s not neo-Puritanism. It’s a contemporary morality according to which traditional masculinity and femininity, beauty, and fertility are vicious and vice-full.
Trade, and perhaps Economics broadly, seems to have been presented popularly as a two-dimensional dynamic. Time, power in windows of time, and people/culture are consistently left out of the calculus.
In a way, this is perfectly apropos. Western Liberals and Libertarians have always been infatuated with theory. It’s the reason they both so frequently suspend their rationality and reasonableness, and the reason Libertardians are so easily duped by clearly tyrannical Liberals.
The replies to this Theo Von video contain great examples of anti-persuasion. Lots of hatred, accusations of Theo supporting Hamas, accusing him of anti-Semitism, and woke scolding.
All they had to do is let the guy emote. It's not a big deal.
In parliamentary democracies especially, moderate immigration is enough to influence politics, and in the UK, immigration has been blushingly large and extra-civilizational. https://t.co/LzTyuFU7Pb
Midwit Lefties say Trump is a fascist. He's not. More importantly, midwitness in general elides the interesting underlying bars of the rhymes across times.
Defensible: 1920s and 1930s Fascism was a reasonable response to the contemporary challenge of demographic decline and cultural malaise following WWI and its offspring: rising hedonism, debt-fueled equities speculation, and a deficit of demand for available supply. This is not an endorsement, dodos. Hindsight must always be suspended, and reason is relative, after all.
Today: demographic decline? Check. Cultural malaise? Check. High (hopefully not still rising) hedonism? Check. Debt-fueled equities speculation? Check. Deficit of demand for available supply? Looking like a check coming, and a bigger one this time.
Below is an illustration not of Fascism!, but of hard logic of hard realities. Politics makes for strange bedfellows. The uniparty was made by a lack of will to bring hard logic to softer realities. They hardened the realities while we fixated on their soft logic.
A principal difference: the businessmen being ~controlled, but not owned, appear to be much dorkier than they used to be, more.
Fascinating times.
Agreed the data and perspective are good, but goodness the conclusion is rushed and rather blithely obtuse. Does anyone think it plausible the US Congress will trim deficits? Does anyone honestly think some vague sense of a portion of Keynes for which no one remembers him?
Very good Martin Wolf article on the problem of excess global savings. Wolf is one of the few economists who thinks in global terms and understands the balance of payments.
