I was excited to vote for @cmckenney and @ArielTroster last week. They both have shown how much they care about everyone in this city, and they will bring real and positive change to so many of our city services. This is a real moment of opportunity for Ottawa. Let’s seize it.
@ajnabieh@IPEdmonton I haven’t upgraded to elastomeric but definitely didn’t fly in KN94 or equivalent. I used (and have) Dräger X-plore N95 and Vitacore CAN99, both from CanadaStrong. I flew in the Dräger and teach in the Vitacore. I have extras of both if you can’t get your own by Monday
@FBorgal Kids too old to carry around with a cargo bike but too young to trust with e-bikes of their own. If I can’t take them with me, what’s the point of an e-bike? Expect I’ll get one when they move out or are old enough to ride their own safely (and lock them carefully).
@Audrey_Giles @Ester__Island@PatrickAoust I have found filters in all of the rooms (SITE and FSS) where co2 levels have gone over 900 or 1000 during class/meeting, but not in the rooms that keep co2 levels low (below 600), even in the same bldg. So it looks like they know which rooms need them. But I’d love more info.
💥Exciting results:
We show how to scalably calculate molecular spectra on an analog quantum computer. Our ion-trap experiment's agreement with theory is stunning.
See @ryjmac thread for all the details!👇
@erinelmvale@Ester__Island@uOttawa Absolutely! Masks should be mandated again. Students (and professors) who are ill should be encouraged not to be in the class and accommodated to make that easy.
Ariel is wonderful and will be a great city councillor. She cares deeply for all her neighbours. She has strong progressive values but isn’t an ideologue. Her priorities for the city are attainable and will make it so much better!
Plus, my house is (briefly) in her video!
@regina_bateson@uOttawa I wrote to @recteurUOpres and @jillscott68 yesterday to request a classroom masking policy yesterday. We should all be filling their inboxes.
@ArielTroster Gilmour may be the easiest to get done, as Jordan Moffat (formerly @jordobicycles) has pointed out. It has signalises intersections at every cross street out to Elgin, is relatively low car traffic, and well located in the community. Would be a great bike artery.
Sort-of happy to report that on my return trip the co2 was “only” around 1900ppm. That’s still too high, but much better than the 4000ppm from my trip on Sunday. @VIA_Rail

I really appreciate that #ViaRail still requires masks on the trains, but what is wrong with the ventilation on these cars?
3600ppm of CO2 (and it’s still rising!) means we’re not getting sufficient fresh air and are all breathing in each other’s breaths. #COVIDisAirborne
