@svernb#S22POPMUS I agree! Introduction of social medias has made it so much easier to connect with artists. Cover bands, while maybe just as talented, won't be the same experience as you may not be nearly as familiar with them
@NicksMusic2011#S22POPMUS I agree. Nowadays I feel technology like auto-tune is so common place in music, listening to groups perform live without these features almost feels like it's missing something when compared with original records.
I am inclined to agree with Wald. Songs today are on a much 'grander' level compared to the past due to the intense amounts of post-production. These songs feature elements that listening to a live cover band just won't sound the same as they can be harder to replicate #S22POPMUS
Rock & Roll was originally a product of African-American culture. The subgenre "Schlock" should very much be classified as cultural theft. It features predominately young, white males censoring traditional rock hits in order to gain more commercial success #S22POPMUS
Ray Charles' unique vocal style had much influence from early blues and gospel that allowed him to stand out compared to other artists at the time. His breaking voice allowed him to convey stronger emotions in his songs, and lead to him originating the soul-music genre #S22POPMUS
@trumanosmond23 You make a great point! Music is everywhere nowadays due to how accessible it's been made with the creation of streaming services & new devices. In a sense it almost 'devalues' it when we look at how treasured it used to be treated in the past #S22POPMUS
@Kayleigh8894 Agreed! Bluetooth is becoming so mainstream due to it's convenience that we now see companies like Apple & Samsung removing the traditional headphone jacks from their devices and replacing it with their respective Bluetooth products #S22POPMUS
Not only have streaming services provided the ability to play whatever song I want, wherever I want, however they allow me to explore many new genres, songs, and artists through their personalized recommendation systems that I normally wouldn't have ever listened to #S22POPMUS
@PratyushnitaM#S22POPMUS Totally agree. Everyone has their own reasoning to like a song. I feel that when saying pop music is dumbed down, it almost forces a belief to the listeners that they shouldn't like it, rather than letting them form their own opinions on it.
@camanning19#S22POPMUS I agree! Music is subjective, just because someone may prefer the sound of the past compared to today, it doesn't mean it's dumbed-down as a whole. Many artists are still promoting impactful messages through their lyrics and sharing their beliefs.
While some artists can be seen as making music for the sake of fame, I don't think it's fair generalize the pop music genre as 'dumbed down'. The style of music and messages portrayed by the artists has just modernized since the world isn't the same it was 60 years ago #S22POPMUS
