@pedestrian Dude, just be courteous. I was driving from Dallas to Colorado this week and got pulled over 2x same day. First guy was a robot. Second trooper was a great guy. We actually had a 10 minute conversation and I left with a warning.
I can’t believe the new Mavs owner is trashing Luka. I’ve been watching the kid since he was 16 & know some of the behind the scenes stuff. Here is some perspective. Take it or leave it.
1. This comes from an all-time NBA evaluator: “Never ever, ever trade a young superstar. They are too hard to find.”
2. The guy killed himself playing year-round for two or three seasons, representing both the Mavericks and Slovenian National Team. Few superstars in league would do that.
3. Mavs treated Jalen Brunson like a second round pick right up until the time he signed with the Knicks.
4. You will learn that Dallas is first, last and always a @dallascowboys town. Dirk made it cool to be a Mavs fan. The people who pay for front row seats wouldn’t know a pick and roll from picking your nose but they came to games. Dirk gave us 20 years & Luka was about to give us 15 more.
5. Marc Stein had a great stat: The last time the Mavericks played a game without Dirk or Luka was April 1998
6. It may be a good trade in the short run if AD plays 70+ games the next three seasons & wins a title, but that’s doubtful.
7. Never underestimate ego as a decision-maker. There is now basically nobody left from the Donnie Nelson era.
A future Hall of Famer is gone and a potential future Hall of Famer is with the Knicks.
8. By the way, Lakers’s GM Rob Pelinka made this statement last Tuesday: “It’s a gift. We’re talking about a 25-year-old that is a top three player in the universe.”
We know.
