All set up and ready to start tomorrow at the 5th Conference of the International Association for Cognitive Semiotics, in beautiful Lund. I’ll be talking about applying a Critical Realist epistemology to the analysis of multimodal texts and their interpretation. Super excited!
Well, that’s a wrap after three intense days at @CADAAD_conf. Great to share ideas and to get some feedback on the way I started to operationalise the refined definitions of semiotic modes and semiotic resources I proposed earlier this year. Thank to all the great colleagues!
My first @CADAAD_conf and what a great conference it’s been so far! Thank you to all those in attendance for their attention and contributions and thank you to the organisers! Thank you @marinabranc for the pic!
Fresh off the (digital) press and fully open access. A Research Topic full of very interesting contributions inspired by the work of John Bateman. Thanks to @neous and Claudia Lehmann for their efforts editing the collection and to all the contributors and reviewers!
The edited book ‘Semiotics and Visual Communication IV: Myths of Today’ is finally out. I’m delighted to have contributed a chapter entitled ‘Keeping the myth of the British Empire alive: combining a multimodal analysis of two BBC travel documentaries with audience research’.
Day 2 of the International Conference on Semiotics of Culture and Visual Communication where I discussed the application of the refined concepts of semiotic modes and semiotic resources I advanced in a recent paper. Big ‘thank you’ to all those present for the discussion!
Great to have presented some preliminary notes from my new research project on the representation of Ukrainian Displaced People on British television. Believe it or not, it is my first Italian conference ever, in Pisa, @inpra2024. Thanks to organisers and delegates!
