When I reflect on my own coaching my starting point is often to think about how fencer athletes perform best under pressure. Can they achieve this by constantly referring back to the recipe book, or by understanding the essence and purpose of what they are trying to achieve?
Disappointed not to see Bethell in Englandβs team for Friday.
He looks a much better bet at 3 than Pope.
Iβm guessing they considered Pope at 6 but it would mean one less bowler.
Iβd try and get Bethell in now. More experience before the Ashes
@nigel_hallows Yes,ensure heβs not over coached.
Kids will experiment if given the chance. They might copy different players but itβs important they find what works for them rather than what looks pretty

Play is the most natural and powerful way to learn..
It stimulates the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, GABA, serotonin, endorphins and oxytocin.
Dopamine is a chemical messenger that transmits signals between neurons. It is associated with pleasure, reward (1)
@nigel_hallows Of course.
I wish your boys the best.
Iβm a genuine believer in play allowing kids to find what is natural to them.
Perfect technique doesnβt exist to me.
What is effective to the individual does.
And that can be found through play, imo
