I am an alumna of @UAlberta. I participated in protests on university grounds when I was a student.

The response by the university and police to clear out protesters this weekend was shocking to see and clearly disproportionate.

The law is clear that universities cannot just issue trespass notices and call in the police to clear out protesters without considering the impact on freedom of expression. The Charter of Rights applies on campus.

This sets an incredibly dangerous and chilling tone for freedom of expression in Alberta and everyone - everyone - should be concerned.
