On July 28, 2018 the Atlantic Selects were formed as a precursor to the HFX Wanderers. They played one game at the new Wanderers Grounds. In PK's, Oxner made a save and Shaffelburg won it. Our team was born. @HFXWanderersFC@Privateers1882@BLOCK108ULTRAS
@Hyjynx_Dave @CBCNS Ya...It comes from oil. Coal and oil are both formed from organic remains and both form under enormous pressures in a sedimentary sequence. Oil/gasoline fuels combustion engines and coal fuels electric cars in Nova Scotia.
@Wolf_Tech@CBCNS The building of nuclear power plants is not even talked about anymore. Damming rivers creates renewable energy but at what cost to the environment that it floods and alteration in the ecosystem that used to move freely in the now permanently affected river system.
@CBCNS For people with electric cars, the best solution is to produce their electricity from a local solar panel. The electricity is produced in a green way with very little losses in transport. Anything else produces a measurable and potentially high carbon footprint in Nova Scotia.
@CBCNS On the average day in Nova Scotia the majority of our power is produced by burning coal in power plants that are 30-40% efficient. The power then travels hundreds of kilometers via a transmission system which also has losses. Finally it goes into our "clean" electric car.
