Had a candid exchange with Shri Sonam Wangchuk and Smt. Gitanjali Angmo in the backdrop of the constructive dialogue in the Union Home Ministry. We agreed that an air of positivity, both in terms of development initiatives and political dialogue, needs to be maintained.

I cautioned Shri Wangchuk to abjure from weaving a misleading and provocative narrative, which vitiates public discourse.

Democratic expression must not be taken as license for fabricating falsehoods and rabble rousing. He accepted that comparing the situation of Ladakh with Manipur was an error of judgement. He also said that he was unsure of the origins of the Cockroach Party and would study the motivations of its founders and revisit his stand, if necessary.

I also highlighted, that repeated rallies and protests, despite positive developments initiated by the Centre, will have a negative impact on economic activities in the tourism space, which is the backbone of Ladakh.

Shri Wangchuk appreciated the positive development initiatives like Him Sarovar project, restoration of Igoo Phey Canal, construction of Mahe - Topko Canal and massive plantation drives, undertaken in the recent days.

It's a shame no major film has been made about Biju Patnaik. He lived a life that sounds almost fictional:

In 1938, he flew his entire wedding procession by aircraft to Rawalpindi for his marriage to Gyanwati Sethi (who became the first Indian woman to hold a commercial pilot’s license, and the couple later flew daring missions together.)

While serving in the Royal Indian Air Force (including as head of Air Transport Command), he secretly ferried freedom fighters like Jayaprakash Narayan, Ram Manohar Lohia, and Aruna Asaf Ali to their hideouts. He also airdropped 'Quit India' leaflets to Indian troops while evacuating British families.

The British once jailed him for transporting nationalist leaders and distributing anti-British literature but also honored him for bravery in evacuating civilians from Japanese-occupied Burma.

During WWII, he flew daring missions delivering arms and supplies to Soviet forces in Stalingrad, and over the treacherous 'Hump' route to China in
support of Chinese Nationalist forces against the Japanese.

In July 1947, he and his wife flew a Dakota into Indonesia, landed on an improvised airstrip while evading Dutch anti-aircraft fire, rescued Prime Minister Sutan Sjahrir, refuelled using abandoned Japanese fuel, and flew him safely to India via Singapore.

A couple of months later, during the Pakistani invasion of Kashmir, he airlifted one of the first Indian troops into Srinagar.

The same year he founded Kalinga Airlines, one of India's earliest private airlines.

As Odisha CM post-1962 India-China war, he secretly visited CIA headquarters at Langley to forge a covert India-US partnership against China, which led to the Aviation Research Centre (ARC) at Charbatia, which supported U-2 recon missions over Tibet.

He was also a legendary administrator and statesman, laying much of the foundation of Odisha's industrial empire (mines, ports, heavy industries etc).

When he passed away, Indonesia observed 7 days of state mourning. Russia observed 1 day. He remains the only person in Indian history whose body was draped in the national flags of 3 nations - India, Indonesia, and Russia.

Few public figures have left such a footprint.

His extraordinary life needs to be brought to the big screen.

भगवान शिव का रूप - एकलिंग जी।
मेवाड़ के आराध्य।

नियम 734 ई. से है:
मेवाड़ का असली राजा एकलिंग जी हैं।
सिसोदिया वंश का हर राणा सिर्फ "दीवान" है - सेवक, मैनेजर
राजतिलक के टाइम हर राणा बोलता है:
"माई-बाप एकलिंग जी, मैं आपका दीवान प्रताप सिंह। मेवाड़ आपकी अमानत है।"

ताज, छत्र, सिंहासन सब एकलिंग जी का। राणा सिर्फ चौकीदार।
इसीलिए मेवाड़ी कभी किसी इंसान के आगे नहीं झुकते थे ‌
बोलते थे: "हमारा राजा तो कैलाशपुरी में बैठा है। दिल्ली वाला कौन?"

हल्दीघाटी की हार के बाद - 1576
प्रताप जंगलों में थे। चेतक शहीद हो चुका था। झाला शहीद। फौज भूखी।
अकबर ने संदेश भेजा:
"प्रताप, संधि कर ले। तुझे 5 हजारी मनसब दूंगा। आधा मेवाड़ जागीर में।
बस एक बार आगरा आकर सिर झुका दे।"

दरबारी बोले: "अन्नदाता, मान जाओ। प्रजा दुखी है। घास की रोटी खा रहे हैं।"
प्रताप की रात काली थी।नींद नहीं आती थी।

एक रात चुपचाप घोड़े पर बैठे और निकल गए - अकेले।
कहां? एकलिंग जी के मंदिर।

आधी रात, खाली मंदिर, राजा और दीवान
रात के 2 बजे।मंदिर के कपाट बंद। पुजारी सो चुके थे।
प्रताप मंदिर की सीढ़ियों पर बैठ गए।हथियार रख दिए। पगड़ी उतार दी।
आंख बंद की और एकलिंग जी से बात करने लगे

बोले:
"बापजी, थक गया हूं मैं।
आपने मेवाड़ दी थी रखने को। मैं रख नहीं पाया।
हल्दीघाटी हार गया। चेतक मरा। झाला मरा।
प्रजा भूखी है। कुंवरी घास की रोटी को रोती है।
अकबर बोल रहा है झुक जा।
आप ही बताओ बापजी... दीवान क्या करे?
अमानत लौटा दूं? संधि कर लूं?
या लड़ते-लड़ते यहीं मिट जाऊं?"

हवा सन्न थी , गहरा सन्नाटा
कहते हैं तभी मंदिर के गर्भगृह से आवाज आई - पुजारी की नहीं, पत्थर की नहीं..
"प्रताप... तू दीवान है या राजा?"

प्रताप चौंक कर बोले: "दीवान हूं बापजी।"
आवाज आई: "तो दीवान का काम क्या है? अमानत की रखवाली या मालिक से पूछे बिना सौदा कर देना?"
"मेवाड़ मेरी अमानत है। तेरे बाप-दादों ने वचन दिया था - शीश कटे पर धड़ लड़े।
जा, लड़। जब तक एक भी सिसोदिया जिंदा है, मेवाड़ मेरा है।
तू हार नहीं मानेगा तो मैं तुझे हारने नहीं दूंगा।"

प्रताप की आंख खुल गई। शरीर में बिजली दौड़ गई।
दंडवत किया। पगड़ी बांधी। तलवार उठाई।
बोले: "हुकुम बापजी। दीवान मरेगा, पर अमानत नहीं सौंपेगा।"

उसके बाद क्या हुआ?
वही रात प्रताप ने कसम खाई
पत्तल में खाऊंगा, जब तक मेवाड़ वापस ना ले लूं।
बिस्तर पर नहीं सोऊंगा, घास पर सोऊंगा।
दाढ़ी नहीं कटाऊंगा, जब तक चित्तौड़ ना देख लूं।

श6 साल बाद दिवेर जीता।32 थाने वापस लिए।
हर जीत के बाद पहला काम:
लूट का माल, हाथी-घोड़े - सब लेकर एकलिंग जी के मंदिर जाता।
माथा टेककर बोलता: "बापजी, आपकी अमानत का एक टुकड़ा वापस ले आया। जमा कर लो।"

भामाशाह का सोना मिला तो पहले एकलिंग जी के मंदिर में रखा, फिर फौज बनाई।
मरते वक्त 1597 में बेटे अमर सिंह से बोले:
बेटा, राज तू नहीं करेगा, एकलिंग जी करेंगे। तू सिर्फ दीवान बनियो
जिस दिन राणा खुद को राजा समझ लेगा, मेवाड़ डूब जाएगा।"

आज भी वही रिवाज है
उदयपुर के महाराणा आज भी "श्रीजी हुजूर" नहीं कहलाते।
कहलाते हैं: "श्री एकलिंग जी दीवान"।
राजतिलक एकलिंग जी के मंदिर में होता है। महल में नहीं।
दस्तखत में लिखते हैं: "एकलिंग जी रे दीवान"।

अकबर जिंदगी भर नहीं समझ पाया:*
"प्रताप के पास फौज नहीं, खजाना नहीं, किला नहीं... फिर भी झुकता क्यों नहीं?"
जवाब एकलिंग जी
जिसका राजा महादेव हो, वो दिल्ली के बादशाह से क्यों डरे?
