One to watch for Wednesday.
SPC has a 15% severe risk up across Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. A surface low rolls across Iowa, dragging Gulf moisture north into a warm sector that loads up with strong instability and serious wind shear.
The wildcard is the evening low-level jet. If it cranks up, these storms could clump into one big complex overnight with a long swath of damaging wind.
Still 4 days out, so the area will shift. More on this soon.
As of 9:30 PM EDT, 6/12, NINE tornadoes have now been confirmed by the National Weather Service across Indiana from the June 11 storms.
New confirmations are St. John (EF-0), Merrillville (EF-2), Wabash (EF-1), Plymouth (EF-1), & Jay Co. (EF-0).
A total of 137 warnings were issued yesterday in Illinois and Indiana, with some indicating a Particularly Dangerous Situation as severe weather rapidly unfolded.
Our entire team was all hands on deck last night, providing live coverage on social media and in our app, communicating one-on-one with clients, issuing alerts, and doing everything we could to keep people informed and safe.
Our thoughts are with everyone impacted, especially across northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana. We are hoping for a safe and speedy recovery for all affected communities.
I think God is because it could have been bad yesterday. Lot of power with that storm system. We took shelter last night and I pulled up the wind velocity radar and was able to tell that the nastiest part was gonna miss the house. We stayed down in the basement until a lot of it was gone though because even if the worst part is going to miss you, the other stuff can cause damage as well.
We had tornado warned storms go through my area late last night, the good news at least for my area no major damage. Unfortunately to the west of me I can’t say the same.
@mohayamonogoi To the west of me farther away yes building destroyed lot of damage. In my town, there was no damage thankfully. I know how to read Doppler radar and I was able to see how big of a threat it was to my house. Luckily, the dangerous part went south.
[10:55 PM] The line of storms will be close to the Ohio/Indiana state line within the hour. Damaging winds will be the primary threat with this activity. Some weakening is expected through the next several hours, but gusty/damaging winds will still be possible through 3 AM.
