I spent the last week researching India's tourism industry
A few things that stood out to me:
• For every foreign tourist, Indians take nearly 300 trips within their own country! Biggest ratio in the world
• India ranks among the world's richest countries for tourism assets, but attracts fewer international visitors than Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam
(Vietnam basically gets the same amount of foreign tourist in 3 months that India gets in a year)
• India doesn't have one tourism economy:
It has two
One domestic and one foreign
While the foreign market is super small,
The domestic India tourism market is booming:
3 Billion domestic trips in 2024, up 17.5%
Religion is now the organizing force of Indian travel
For example, Maha Kumbh 2025 was the largest human gathering on Earth with 600m+ people
• Ayodhya attracted more visitors than the Taj Mahal
• 86% of domestic visits are to the top 10 Indian states
• West Bengal recieves the 2nd most foreign tourist per year, mostly people from Bangladesh
• Four fast-growing frontiers in India
Spiritual
Wedding tourism
Medical & wellness
Cruise & luxury rail
• The opportunity is in the states no one markets
For example, the The Northeast the "Seven Sisters"
0.43% of domestic visits for a region with world-class biodiversity, festivals and adventure assets
• Why India underperforms internationally
Too few international gateways
Great destinations, limited accommodation
The world doesn't know the product
Brutal seasonality
A safety-perception gap
• The biggest surprise?
India doesn't really have a tourism product problem
It may simply have an access/marketing problem
India is, on paper advertising itself to the world with the budget of a small mid-cap company’s marketing
department!
I am going to make a deep dive video on this, so stay tuned

Who actually controls America right now? kalshi came out with something called the American Power Index (KPOW) and it is a first in class true measure of political control. It blends together the present day distribution of seats with future election outcomes (using
Interesting facts about North Korea It’s not 2026 there, it’s “Juche 115.” They have their own time zone, a 105-story empty “Hotel of Doom,” and wait til you hear about the wigs
Intersting things you didn’t know about Colombia Colombia contains the only missing section of the Pan-American Highway. Colombia has more bird species than any country on Earth. Colombia produces almost all the world’s emeralds

Most people don’t realize how long Vietnam actually is
It stretches from Michigan all the way to Florida!
That’s why the country has:
• Completely different climates north to south
• Massive regional food differences
• Distinct accents and cultures
North Vietnam has a four seasons while South Vietnam experiences a warm tropical climate year-round
India has a temperature problem The other day 50/50 of the worlds hottest cities were in India Temperatures soaring past 46-48°C (115°F+) And what’s crazy is India has a low percentage of households with AC. What should India do?
