Finally caught up! Powell is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors, for the style alone. I love the philosophical digressions/private observations from the narrator of settings, characters, himself from a distance (e.g, didn’t realize at the time…) #anthonypowelltogether

@literatureSC I've always done this - my mum recalls buying me a new book when I was a child, and the first thing I did was fan the pages in front of my nose. (It's been a while since I've contributed to this thread - trying to get back into it - but I've kept up with the reading!)
As some of you have commented, the nonchalant description of the gross things he got up to made me physically cringe. It is a testament to his ability to accurately portray the past though - he remembers the weird 💩kids do when they are young... #knausgaardtogether
