In Washington State, union leaders are supporting a bill that legalizes the misclassification of Uber and Lyft drivers as "independent contractors," consigning gig workers to constant economic precarity. https://t.co/xuIJrS2mK8
@Kaz12348235@gamepasscounter bumping this because when launching from game pass it still launches as a game preview. restarting the store and computer don't update the title or the game files itself. something is not working right for kaz or me if others w/ game pass are playing the full game successfully.
#TyreNichols murder shows what millions of working-class people already know: the whole system is guilty. We need mass protests to end racist policing, especially the violent "hotspot policing" that Dem party politicians have embraced across the country. https://t.co/1Sk87gbpH9
@Snowden@cmkshama It's a good idea in theory, but what do we do for the suffering communities the police retaliate against when we try to hold them accountable?
@Snowden The police union leaders who control those pensions already help officers run protection rackets against the constituencies of the lawmakers who vote in favor of ending their qualified immunity; this happened in @cmkshama's D3 Seattle when SPD refused
911 calls near CHOP.
@DriversUnionWA Heartbreaking, I remember him from back when we had meetings more regularly. I donated, but really he should be covered by Uber's money or something like workers comp; is his family elligible for compensation under HB 2076?
@DriversUnionWA Did something change in the L&I rulemaking? Because last you told us, we will in fact not have full workers comp on all hours worked, just accruing it on the time we have a passenger in the car. That's about half of our time. So is it not still just half the normal workers comp?
@DriversUnionWA We call ourselves a union and yet are classified as a 501c4, not a 501c5, a labor organization that is legally held accountable to its members, guaranteeing the right to vote, democracy. Our bylaws forbid voting. We gotta walk our talk, not spread PR. https://t.co/FDBeFHPodE
@DriversUnionWA Talking to the dozens of members who have signed this petition for the right to vote in our union would be a good start. We have been asking for a meeting on this issue for over a year. Leadership is silent. We'd have more members if we gave them votes. https://t.co/FDBeFHPodE
@DriversUnionWA 🤔 Maybe if we gave our members the right to vote in our union, more people would be excited to pay monthly dues? Just a wild idea from the history books of unionism? https://t.co/FDBeFHPodE
@DriversUnionWA She nonethless sold us out to Uber/Lyft, misclassifying us as contractors through their WA State law HB 2076. This political relationship of grandstanding is hollow, serves little lasting, good for drivers, and is frankly an embarassment to our union's reputation. Jus sayin!
"It's the only job that gets a rate cut every year, and they consistently spin it as a positive for us because we will be busier working - yeah, to the point where we never go home," said Brian Bettenhausen, a rideshare driver. #thegigisup

@DriversUnionWA@UWBridgesCenter @marissagbaker In the chaos the pandemic created for gig workers, our union rallied a mutual aid network of drivers, myself included, to volunteer their time helping other drivers apply for UI, sick pay, PPP, the Targeted EIDL Advance. They paid some drivers for this through a 117 program 👍
