I know nobody wants to hear this, but this is where the real failure lies. Blaming Mauricio Pochettino or the players is too easy for me.
Look back at what has happened. People like Earnie Stewart and Matt Crocker have stepped away from their roles, and we move on as if nothing happened. The real problems run much deeper.
I can only speak from my own experience. There are people within the federation who should never have been put in positions of power. One of them is Cindy Parlow Cone.
Years ago, Earnie Stewart asked if I would be interested in coaching the U16 National Team and assisting with the U20 National Team. We agreed, and I was excited about the opportunity. But Cindy never signed the paperwork. Earnie told me he couldn’t move forward without her signature.
Later, I was advised not to talk about it because I would never get another opportunity if I did. If you’re wondering why I’m talking about it now, it’s because I’m back in Germany.
Let me be clear: I don’t like working with people who put their own interests ahead of what’s best for the development while claiming they’re acting in its best interest.
This is just one story. I could go much deeper on this topic because in my opinion, this is the real reason we continue to fail. There are too many issues within the federation that people don’t know.
Anyone having this debate is a moron including the scumbag @AlexiLalas . This man had this team playing a version of soccer that us as fans have never seen. We would be lucky for him to lead this team into the 2030 WC over some dipshit MLS coach.

This cracks me up about youth sports
Across the country, every group of 12 year olds is largely about the same talent wise. Yes, there are well coached/good teams and there are teams that struggle but largely every team is fighting toward the median
But we’ve convinced parents that traveling 6 hours and staying in a hotel will somehow put you up against better talent when all you did was pick up a rec league as is and move it 6 hours away

Oh America is doing the is soccer too expensive debate. I interviewed the parents of arguably their best player, Chris Richards, last year and this is how they got their son through it. Imagine how many are lost to the game in similar situations.
Btw lalas supporting the current system is basically proof that it doesn’t work. Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would never have had the money to pay for the American system. So we are stuck with players like Lalas and Pulisic as a result of this exclusion.
Pay to play. Travel over training. An incentive to coddle not coach.
Youth soccer is broken in America, the USMNT keeps proving it true.

The loss has finally set in so now I can appreciate this opportunity to go to a game and experience the WC atmosphere. Sad it’s over for the USMNT but what an amazing tournament it’s been. Bravo to all of the US host cities, hope the rest of the WC continues to entertain!
This team gave so much false hope. Came into the World Cup with ZERO expectations, beat 3 average teams at best and thought we were going to beat a team we lost to 5-2 in a scrimmage. This generation continues to be a joke, don’t let the larger World Cup format prove it otherwise

FIFA Appeal Committee has rendered request by Belgian FA as “inadmissible” as Belgium “not a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision.”
Which means according to FIFA, Balogun can play tonight
https://t.co/lxdCy6D6Ig
So to recap what happened with the USMNT:
• Balogun received a bogus red card
• VAR protocol isn't followed (no slow-mo)
• Trump calls Infantino to ask about the process
• US Soccer lawyers preapre & submit an appeal
FIFA's independent 18-person disciplinary committee then met, approved the appeal, and told Balogun he could play in Monday's match against Belgium.
That's what everyone is complaining about?
All rules were followed, and that same process is open to every other country. The only difference is everyone knows the red card was a mistake to begin with.
