@Richard81751384@SNParker_ The rest of the pitching collectively is far more guilty for the situation we’re in than any one guy, even if it’s Skenes. He’s an easy scapegoat because he set such a high bar for himself.
@Richard81751384@SNParker_ Ehh BP ERA is a little better but they’re right in line. The BP has only been good for a few weeks. I guess I’m not convinced that Skenes having an ERA in line with last 2 years is giving us 6 more wins this year. Look at the game logs, 3-4 obvious games he cost us.
@Richard81751384@SNParker_ Yeah if I knew the offense produced the way it has it wouldn’t be crazy to think we could overcome a 4.00 ERA from Paul. And we should have, except we have a TEAM ERA in the bottom 3rd of the league and we’ve blown 20 saves! 20!!! That’s a 55.6% success rate. That’s our killer.
@Richard81751384@SNParker_ What does that even mean?
Skenes is having a down year for sure (relative to his first two) but he’s pretty low on the list of reasons we have the W-L we have. Truth is though, nobody really knows why, a lot of theories are more plausible(injury, mechanics, weight, WBC etc.)
@SteelCity2122@KodyDuncanPGH I don’t disagree but I’m pretty convinced his demise is injury related. Velo down all year, just got yanked at 65 pitches? I have a bad feeling the Skenes Tommy John announcement is coming.
@itzyoboy11@MarkMaddenX This is the exact stupid rhetoric that makes discussing baseball on social media impossible. “Horrible”? No, he has not been horrible. Not even kind of.
@Scoops1616@MarkMaddenX I mean he set the bar for himself astronomically high. Tough to 3-peat sub 2.00 ERA seasons. He’s obviously not the guy he’s been but still very effective. The velo dip is confusing and concerning, I can’t think of many examples of this sort of thing w/o injury being involved.
@KodyDuncanPGH Had some success with the Yanks a few years ago. “Stuff” looks ok. Upgrade over Santana I guess but that wasn’t hard to do. Not moving the needle much or at all though. But whatever, it’s fine.
