I made my first iOS game! Just for fun, no monetization. It was a fun challenge to make something simple and intuitive for phones, but still have challenging action.

Science is not about regurgitating facts.
Math is not about applying formulas.
Writing is not about having a big vocabulary.
Programming is not about memorizing Leetcode tricks or accumulating knowledge of libraries/frameworks.
Since it‘s nearly time for new year’s resolutions, my goal-setting mantra is:
Become a better version of yourself, not a worse version of someone else.
There are people at Big Tech companies who say things like “this feature will trigger intense FOMO” like it’s a good thing. They are incapable of understanding that they’re the bad guys.
@cmuratori Great video. I see this in my domain — distributed server systems — all the time as well, with people doing fake optimization in the name of “scalability.”
@therealcliffyb I try to make myself earn it somehow. Right now, I have to walk 10k steps for every alcoholic beverage (and I even wrote a little iPhone app to keep track). So I end up walking more and drinking less. Works for my weird brain but YMMV!
@Ronenain@waitbutwhy I understand how performance relative to the market works. It’s just that “buy/sell/hold” are strange word choices for those definitions, which is what Tim is getting at I think.
@Ronenain@waitbutwhy Is it sort of a psychological / sunk cost thing? Wouldn’t the rational move be to sell the “holds” so you can buy the “buys?” Or is this a historical thing from times of less liquidity or higher transaction fees?
I was curious to learn what modern iOS dev is like, so I’ve been watching a Stanford course.
It has been a surprisingly great way to wind down before bed, because the teacher is like the Bob Ross of iOS development. https://t.co/vGnnX8vrUE
