SG is in a pretty tough spot right now.

5 data points:
- one big company I know laid off their entire engineering staff (~50 engineers?) and replaced them with outsourced devs instead. I have a friend who worked there. He's a very solid senior-level dev and he's still looking for a job
- one founder I know laid off half his staff and kept only senior staff + Claude Code
- one big FAANG-level company in SG has a bunch of career positions open but my friend can't get past interview even after being in FAANG for 5+ years. He looked at the hiring manager's linkedin and it seems like they've switched to hiring from India? (even though they still have the open positions for SG up on their site)
- my CTO-level friend says across the board he's seeing people do layoffs and conserving cash (or at minimum not committing to more spend) to wait out AI progress
- my other CTO/Engineering-lead friend is unemployed and hasn't found a job in months

Beberapa kali dapet interview, ternyata kultur company sekarang kebanyakan balik jaman 2012an. Yg mana employee harus siap kerja lembur tanpa dibayar, top-down management, gaji juga turun banyak. Bahkan nego pun tidak dikasih ruang.
