The view from inside Integrity as recovery forces pop open the hatch…watching the helicopter pass over their shoulders and hearing all the joy, it was as good as it gets.
"What struck me wasn't necessarily just Earth, it was all the blackness around it. Earth was just this lifeboat hanging, undisturbingly, in the universe." – @Astro_Christina#ArtemisII#EarthWeek2026
Six Navy photographers were assigned to document the recovery of Artemis II, all of whom described the moment as one of the most meaningful assignments in their careers.

Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
Jesse, Steve, Laddy, and Vlad….such an incredible feeling to welcome you aboard Integrity after a nearly 700,000 mile journey. Forever thankful for your service to our crew and the nation.
We've continued to comb through our images to find the best to share from the Artemis II return to Earth ! Check out some of the newest uploads from the HQ Photo teams coverage of #artemis II. https://t.co/mG3LANO8ci
"Welcome to my old neighborhood." Our @NASAArtemis II astronauts woke up on the sixth day of their mission to a special message recorded in 2025 by astronaut Jim Lovell, the pilot of Apollo 8.
Today's daily planning conference began with the Artemis II crew awarding @CSA_ASC astronaut @Astro_Jeremy with a gold astronaut pin to commemorate his first spaceflight, per NASA tradition.
The Artemis II crew began their day prepping for their flyby. Tasks include a manual piloting demo with Victor Glover, reviewing lunar science targets, and collecting bio-samples. The Orion spacecraft remains on track for its flight around the Moon! https://t.co/ZcmPaFTTRs
Even in darkness, we glow.
In this image of Earth taken by the Artemis II crew, we can see the electric lights of human activity. In the lower right, sunlight illuminates the limb of the planet.
