‘Butchered and Beheaded’, Says Naga Family Members

#IMPHAL: Two family members from each victim participated in the identification process, which began around 2 PM and continued late into the evening.

“Only Dilip Thiumai’s body is relatively intact,” Paisho Thiumai, younger brother of Rev Dr Manu Thiumai said.

“The rest of the bodies were totally mutilated. They were butchered and beheaded. We couldn't see any intact joints. This is horrific. We are deeply angry and broken by this entire inhuman act,” he said. #ManipurCrisis

We have a politician who advocates for extending the draconian Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) across all of Manipur, an inhumane, colonial-era law that continues to cast a shadow over India’s democratic ideals. The world, including the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) @UNHumanRights @UNGeneva @UN_HRC @UN_News_Centre has repeatedly voiced concerns over AFSPA, urging the Government of India to repeal it due to its documented role in enabling human rights abuses. The Indian Supreme Court itself has taken up cases of alleged fake encounters in Manipur, with 1,528 reported cases of extrajudicial killings currently under scrutiny, highlighting the grave impact AFSPA has on the lives of civilians.

Despite this, we have an elected MLA from Manipur pushing for AFSPA’s expansion, revealing a disregard for the welfare of his own people. His stance not only supports authoritarianism but also undermines the call for justice and accountability. I am determined to expose him as one of the most regressive and inhumane politicians in Manipur’s history. He is celebrating reimposition of AFSPA in Valley region and he wants it more. He is indeed a blood thirsty Politician from Chin-Kuki groups.
