Today I launched the National Immunization Symposium. Uganda's immunization package now has 14 antigens compared to 6 more that 30 years ago. Immunization remains the biggest and most effective public health intervention for disease prevention.
On behalf of @GovUganda and on behalf of H E @KagutaMuseveni, who is a proud champion of immunization, I was proud to announce that Uganda, a GAVI eligible country, is renewing its commitment of $1M to @gavi replenishment cycle.

This morning we dispatched 776 equipment comprised of 556 solar direct drive refrigerators and 220 electric refrigerators to selected districts to supports safe storage of vaccines in rural health facilities, aimed at strengthening Uganda’s immunization coverage.
This expansion is critical as Uganda’s immunization schedule grows, recently adding vaccines like the Measles Rubella second dose, Yellow Fever, and the third dose of Rotavirus.
We thank our partners GAVI, World Bank, WHO, and UNICEF that have stood with us through this journey.
Jimmy Ameny, coordinator of Gavi Grants at MOH Uganda, notes vaccine administration has increased due to resource availability. "This highlights the need for sustained government financing for immunization, reducing reliance on donors," Jimmy retorts.
